Seymour Duncan SH-15 Alternative 8 Humbucker Black Trembucker

Description
Description
Seymour Duncan's first production guitar pickup to use an Alnico 8 magnet, the Alternative 8 Humbucker starts with hot coils wound for maximum output. With the addition of the Alnico 8 magnet, output is enhanced with a huge, punchy sound, full of fat mids and present upper-mids. This is a dynamic guitar pickup that doesn't get "sizzly" or dark like some high-output ceramic magnet electric guitar pickups.
Complete setup
The Seymour Duncan SH-15 Alternative 8 Pickup is recommended for the bridge position on your guitar. Matches great with a moderate output neck pickup like the SH-1n '59 or the SH-2n Jazz Model. Pairs well with a distortion pedal like the SFX-05 Lava Box or the SFX-08 Power Grid distortion.

I chose this pickup because I wanted a high output yet still smooth pickup, previous pickups i have owned include, JB, Pearly Gates, Seth Lover, Invader, Dimebucker, I stuck it in a EC256, it has the bite you need without the shrill highs like the dimebucker or pearly gates, it has a very tight lowend, not flubby like an invader, all around this pickup is hands down the best ive ever had. I play Metal primarily. i usually drop tune between D and C you can check out recordings i made with this pickup at www.reverbnation.com/densotema

I recently purchsed an Ibanez S series guitar. As I have found their pick ups are a little thin, I replaced the entire electronics package. My usual go to brige pickup is usually a JB4. However after some research and consultation with Duncan's Tone Wizard,I selected this one. The punch and clarity of this pickup for solos is over the top. Very solid mid bump without that mosquito high end that some bridge pickups have. When you flip the selector from the brige or middle it's like having a built in lead boost. My bass player commented:"You should throw all your other guitars in the trash" Little extreme.......Maybe I'll just replace a couple pickups

i put this pickup in the bridge position for my american standard HSS stratocaster. My strat now screams and growels metal much more then the stock pickup. This is the best humbucker ever made. Better then the JB 4 i have on my jackson dinky.

I've had this pickup in the bridge of my guitar for about a year, and I would recommend it to anyone who uses distortion. The clean tone off this pickup is exceptionally trebley. I generally switch to my bridge pickup (Alnico II Pro) for clean stuff. However, turn up the gain, and this pickup becomes the most biting metal monster i've ever played that was passive. Paired with distortion, this pickup makes solos that would normally fade cut through the mix and even power chords are distictly heard above the band. Awesome Pickup for lead players.
