If the 59 Model bridge humbucker was twice as loud, it would be a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 SH-14 humbucker. This powerful pickup features scooped mids, even bass and treble and high output.

I have an SG standard and based on reading the 'reviews' I placed a 59 in the neck (sounds great) and was told by folks at GC store to place the higher output JB in the bridge. I opted for the SH14 based upon a few reviews of what would work best in an SG and should have went with my guitar teacher and GC employees recommendations on a higher output SD. The SH14 has noticeably less output / gain in the bridge than the 59 I placed in the neck!! A clear difference! I had both professionally installed and both are working properly. I should have gotten a higher output SD in the bridge to complement the 59 in the neck. My guitar is now limited in the types of songs I can play and will take out the SH 14 for a higher output SD in the bridge. Lesson learned. Try before you buy !

I have these beauties on my Schector Blackjack. Not only does it give my guitar a perfect shredding distortion, these pickups will also give you a clear, clean tone. If you want to be able to play the overdriven metal licks, and still be able to play those clean blues riffs, these pickups are for you.

The Seymour Custom 5 might be the 'perfect' humbucking pickup. The pickup has enough output to create that dirty or 'brown' sound with ease, while allowing the articulation of higher frequencies that all high-output humbuckers lose in the mud. Humbuckers are a funny breed - too low output prevents the edge that most are looking for and too high output creates nothing but mud. The Custom 5 is one pickup that hits the bullseye in that it produces the crunch but allow a player to roll off the volume a bit on their axe and produce that bell-like tone. It's no suprise that some of the most expensive USA made guitars are equipped with the Custom 5 as standard issue.
