This guitar is the best one I've ever owned. I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom that this bad boy blows the doors off from. It does everything I want it to do! Between the locking tuners, locking TOM bridge, split coil humbuckers, awesome feel, and light weight, I don't know how much more you'd want from a guitar! This guy sounds amazing for metal, rock, and undistorted music! If you're thinking about purchasing one of these, pull the trigger and do so! You will not be disappointed by any means, as a matter of fact it will blow your mind away!

  • Guitar is OK out of the Box...

Always wanted this guitar as a kid. Then I grew up, and I now only have Gibson and PRS guitars. Decided to fulfill an old dream and bought this guitar. When you've played and owned higher end instruments it's hard to compare the Tempest. It's an ok guitar out of the box. Don't get me wrong it's beautiful and seems to well made. It's just not the best sounding or playing guitar without some extra work. First, they claim the guitar comes "set up to play" out of the box. It doesn't. The action is high and tapered indicating the neck needs adjustment. The locking tuners aren't the greatest. The pickups (to my ear) are horrific. I opened the electronics compartment and I didn't even see any discernable capacitors. I immediately gave the guitar to my guitar tech, and had him go through the guitar and set it up proper, lower the action, polish the frets, and change out the pick ups for a set of PRS 57/08. I also changed out the tone pot. The tone knob kept coming off the first day I had it. Had a PRS push/pull tone pot installed. So all in all, after you get the guitar if you drop another $600-$800 into it you then you'll have formidable instrument you can be confident in. Then again, if you're a new players (or just not that good) then forget everything I just said and enjoy because you won't be able to tell the difference. Cheers!

For some reason, Schecter has MOP inlays on models that cost 1/2 that of the tempest which has plastic inlays. Mine had burr on one fret that needed buffing- not a show stopper but I started feeling self conscious every time I reached that fret. I'd rather skip inlays altogether, making the fret board a lot smoother to navigate and perhaps offer stainless steel frets with the cost saving. Or maybe a case. Action/play-ability is good and build Q seems adequate. The pickups offer fair range of tones with volume and tone variation and the coil splitting also helps. Mine weighed only 7.2 lb and I prefer them light. Slight head stock dive but that doesn't bother me at all. No issues with tuning. Locking tuners work well. The bridge is too close to the pick up, making adjustment a nightmare- the screws for intonation as well as the screws locking the posts are between the bridge and pickup and the gap is too small to insert any tool in there. They should ship with the bridge turned 180 degrees as Gibson does.

  • I would buy again but, it is not worth $1000

This guitar feels great plays great but clearly not as good as a Les Paul. I would range this guitar at around $500

Bought this fiddle a week ago and cannot stop playing it. Pasadena PUPs are awesome. All levels of play ring through. Like old school PAF humbuckers. The quality materials in this guitar would cost 1500 or more with some other brands. Locking tuners, Tone Pros Bridge and Tusq nut this guitar stays in tune and intonation is on point. Set up from factory is almost perfect.

It's possible but would be very difficult.
