First, a few things I learned by actually using Sustainiac. 1) when it is on, sound goes through the rear pickup regardless of the selector position. 2) when used as a neck pickup it has a pretty good clean single-coil tone, but when dirty it feedbacks uncontrollably at any volume. 3) when used with clean sound, you always hear the overtones as well. 4) lower notes will result in harmonics even under "original note" mode. 5) chords will result in one dominant note. Having said the above, Sustainiac is an absolute game changer. I can sustain 24th-fret E as long as I want. It lets me fill space with long high notes like I always wanted to. Now used to Sustainiac, I have to be conscious when I use regular guitars that I won't get the same long sustain. This is my first Schecter and I'm impressed by Decimator pickup. It is very flexible, it can handle metal to clean. Unfortunately no coil tap with Sustainiac model. The ash body is very light and comfortable, the set neck is ultra smooth. No complaints with the fit and finish. The burl top is just a paper-thin veneer but beautiful all the same. All in all, this guitar has become an important part of my arsenal. It has some limitations, I'm not selling my Charvel, but no other guitars can do what Sustainiac can do either.
You get ALOT of guitar for the money!!

First let me say, I LOVE this guitar! I've been playing over 35 years and I'm a leftover shredder from the 80's....so I cut my teeth and developed my chops when all the shred movement began and we all had Great Quality instruments! This one is no exception and has killer playability and the Floyd stays in tune (as usual) and I have mine set up for crazy low action and tune down a full step. (I love the tone and feel in this tuning) and I use Hybrid 9-46 strings. You get a ton of high end features - the electronics, the Ebony fingerboard, reverse headstock and of course a quality Floyd Rose. This neck feels amazing! Now, the only not so great....mine came with a bad (and I mean terrible) micro-phonic sustaniac. Soon as you would switch it on the feedback would cut your hear off (and I play through big amps). I contacted the Schecter custom shop and spoke with a great guy named "Matthew". He advised adjusting the circuit board and I did that to no avail. He then sent me (free of charge) a new sustaniac pickup. I put it in and now it works as it should without any issues. I have seen many bad sustaniacs as I have tried many out in the stores and it makes me think that company (that owns sustaniac) may have quality control issues and if it is not a must for you then go with the model without and there will not be an issue. But kudos to the team at Schecter for taking care of their customer! So in conclusion - this is an amazing guitar and I am super happy that I bought it! It adds alot to any collection and can be used at any level of playing!

I own over 35 guitars and have been playing for over 15 years , for the money this guitar is the most versatile, best sounding and easiest to play guitar I have ever owned. The sustainic pickup is killer, it takes a little time to learn how to take advantage of it but once you do it takes your playing and sounds to a whole other level. Ash body can give you the fender blues strat sound and the versatility of the pickups can take you to the death metal if you so wish. Look, finish and design are amazing
