Schecter Guitar Research PT Special Solid Body Electric Guitar 3-Tone Sunburst

The Schecter is a big surprise. I am surprised at how much I like this guitar. The tone from the two pick ups is so sweet, and the V-90 is warmer and melodic. Can get all the twang you want with a few turns of the knob and switch from passive to serial really makes big difference. This guitar sounds great. The overall build quality is superb. No flaws. It is light, the fretboard is the most comfortable I have (I have 4 guitars LP, Strat, G&L) I especially love the selector switch behind the knobs. I can strum without hitting the selector. I also love one vol/tone knob. I cannot put this one down. Out of the box plays perfectly. I am more than happy with this purchase. This guitar is great for almost any genre. I have the Pearl Black and it looks great.

I have been playing for about 20 years and man, do I wish I found this guitar sooner, would have saved me a lot of money searching for "the guitar". The only issue I have had is with the tone control not functioning perfectly, but the sound and feel of this guitar more than makes up for that. I mostly play blues/classic rock and this thing brings such a biting, snappy full and expressive tone it's mind blowing. I never even used to look at t-styles because I found them too thin sounding, but wow, this is probably the best sounding and feeling guitar I own. The satin finish is absolutely stunning and I love that it is a think coat as I am hoping it wears in nicely. The guitar can be a bit noisy, but I feel some basics like adding shielding will help with that.

This is my first Schecter, and I'm very surprised at the build quality. It's pretty much flawless as far as the build is concerned and between the wood grain and the thin laquer finish, it's really a stunner up close. And that's just with the black version. I would guess that the sunburst is even nicer, but I think the black will be easier to maintain. After a little setup, the action is lower than I expected to get. The closest thing to a problem is that you can't raise or lower the P90. It's literally bolted into position. The saving grace here was that I was able to adjust the pole pieces in order to get the clarity I expect from a P90. Otherwise, I very glad that I took the chance on this model.

Really wanted another Tele - was about to get a Fender American special because I wanted jumbo frets when I came across the PT Special - the P90 in the neck position tilted the scale..... LOVE this guitar!

I didn't own a single coil guitar...continued to play and borrow a bunch o stuff. Had my eyes on "hot-rodding" a Mexican Tele. But tried the Schecter PT Special and it blew my mind. Better neck, better stock pickups, switches and electronics, for same price. The Salesman (and I forget his name..forgive me) offered me a deal on a trade in that made it practical to trade it for the Schecter than to buy a MIM Tele and then have to soldier in new pups etc.
