Schecter Guitar Research CR-6 Electric Guitar Charcoal Burst

Description
The Schecter CR-6 electric guitar is purpose-built for high-gain mayhem. With its USA Schecter Apocalypse-II humbucking pickups and bolt-on maple neck with carbon fiber reinforcement rods, the CR-6 delivers massive tone and lightning-fast playability.
Apocalyptic Pickups Provide Crushing Midrange
The CR-6 is armed with Schecter USA Apocalypse-II humbucking pickups that churn out a tight, focused tone with devastating midrange. The 3-way switch lets you toggle between serial and parallel wiring to access the pickups' full tonal range from rich and warm to aggressive and cutting. Premium CTS potentiometers provide precision control over volume and tone.
Lightning-Fast Neck Built for Speed
The CR-6 has a 3-piece bolt-on maple neck reinforced by two carbon fiber rods for rock-solid stability during shredding solos and complex chords. Its Ultra Thin C shape and 25.5" scale length enable fast, fluid playing across the wenge fretboard's 24 extra jumbo frets.
Balanced Body With Exotic Poplar Burl Top
The CR-6 features a mahogany body with an eye-catching poplar burl top for balanced tone and premium looks. Its hybrid double-cutaway shape provides comfortable access to the highest frets. A hardtail bridge, Schecter tuners and Graph Tech Black Tusq XL nut round out the hardware.
Premium Components and Construction
From the Apocalypse-II pickups and CTS potentiometers to the wenge fretboard and poplar burl top, the CR-6 is loaded with premium components. Set-neck construction and a mahogany body provide resonant tone. Diamond-series Schecter parts, including tuners, bridge and nut, are built to last.

Quality and value that I've come expect from Schecter
I have two other Schecters so I'm familiar with them. I didn't actually intend to buy this guitar. I played it while testing out other options and I was immediately impressed by the feel of the contoured heel and slimmer body. The one on display in the store was gorgeously finished also. I put it back because I wasn't looking for another Schecter at the time. Over the next few weeks I couldn't get over this guitar and ended up going back and getting one. The one I ended up with was just as exquisitely finished as the one on the rack, but needed some setup love. After a new set of strings, some intonation correction, and pickup height adjustment this axe plays as good as it looks. The slimmer body contour reminds me of an Ibanez S series, but a bit more substantial. The neck is my favorite Schecter ultra-slim-C profile and feels extremely comfortable and fast. I usually end up replacing factory pickups with Duncans or DiMarzios but this is the third Schecter that I've owned that has given me no reason to want to replace them. The coil split pot just adds versatility to the sound. The bridge pickup split has that sparkly strat sound, and the middle and neck positions get the quack. It's obviously not a strat but you could get by with it, and then kick in the full humbucker for some meaty distorted sounds. The only thing I plan on doing to this guitar is replacing the tuners with some hipshot locking machines and replacing the strap buttons with strap-locks. Like all my Schecters, the bang-for-the-buck factor on this Schecter is very high.

Extremely disappointed
I have owned two and played at least 4 different ones in store. I might just be unlucky with this guitar but no matter which one I played it always had dead frets or fret buzz. I had 4 different techs looks at the first one in hopes they could solve the fret buzz issue. The last tech said the neck was warped. For reference I live in between two guitar centers that both have two techs. The kicker is that it's a perfect guitar for the money outside of this issue. It has lots of perfect tones with what it is equipped with. The neck is perfect and makes you instantly feel like a faster guitar player. If you get the right one, it's gorgeous too. Just a bummer that it had so many issues. I recently went back in right before the whole covid-19 shut down, I grabbed one off the rake because they were on sale. Once again the stupid thing buzzed like bee. I had the guy bring one from the back out and the guitar center employee specifically said "dude your luck with these guitars is terrible. I have never seen one person pick so many duds."

Schecter Is Quality!

Been through several Epiphone and Ibanez electric guitars and Schecter blows them out of the water. The CR-6 right out of the gate sounds awesome! The looks alone will impress anyone who lays eyes on it. I consider this a light weight guitar in comparison to my experiences with other brands. Of your on the fence about purchasing this don't hesitate and just get it, you won't regret it at all!
Amazing looks and plays incredibly well.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. The guitar looks absolutely incredible. It doesn't look anything like the images on this site, but I knew that when I ordered it. The neck is so fast and smooth. I love it.
My favorite guitar I've ever owned.

This guitar looks, plays, and feels incredible and can cover great ranges of music with the single coil/humbucker split. It is very lightweight and has a slick neck. Gave it a little setup when I got home due to some fret buzz and this axe was absolutely flawless in no time.
BAD POTENTIOMETER

Floor model had awful electric buzz, was given NIB, took it home, same issue. Went back to GC, tried 3 NIB guitars with SAME issue. Only reason I kept was because I didn't want to go through the hassle of filing a refund with the financing company. It was ok for a bit, but the more I play, the worse it gets. I barely touch the knob and the sound TOTALLY dies/no sustain. It's unmotivating to play at all. My only option is to get a new potentiometer, so buyers beware.
AMAZING guitar!

This is such an awesome guitar. It plays really well and the sound is incredible. I picked the black cherry burst color and I wouldn't change it for a thing. Definitely worth the money for serious players! #sweepstakes
