I needed a new Low-E harp as blew a reed on my Hohner plates, so thought I would try this one, as less cost than new plates. I just needed standard Richter tuning but the website said this has an altered tuning (with the missing VI note in the lower octave instead of the V -- in the E harp, this is C# instead of B), so was sort of looking forward to this as often would like this note. The harp delivered though is definitely in standard Richter tuning, and labeled as such -- no big deal as all I really had before anyway. The Seydel website shows that these are available in that altered tuning (called Paddy Richter) and many others as well, but I think the GC website mistakenly thought that they all are in Paddy Richter. Plays very well though, and beautifully in tune -- I think maybe Just Intonation. Comfortable on lips and contoured shape at ends a little more comfortable than my Hohner Blues Harps and Lee Oskars. Takes about the same amount of air and same size as my lowest keyed Lee Oskar (F) and sounds much like them too. No moustache grabs yet. Whole tuning is very slightly sharp as is typical. No problem with bends. Not likely to play a Low-E much in cross harp (B major), but sounds good in slant harp (F# minor Dorian). Comes with a leather sleeve but will prob. be in either my big case or my mouth most of the time. Like it and will probably buy more, as a good deal. Seydel is such an old company, I feel like I am playing with a bit of the past. Additional note -- one of the other Seydel harps at the GC site (noted as Paddy Richter) GC says the 3 blow is raised only a half step, but Paddy Richter is actually a full step up (VI instead of V).

Hello, I saw some bad reviews after I ordered it and regretted having bought it but tried to have an open mind and hope it was a good one. I've been under the impression that all the "blues" harps ive bought like Hohners Blue Midnight and others were all purpose as I only play songs, hymns, popular etc. but I'm having trouble playing this one so wonder if its a blues mostly or only instrument. Its the most costly one ive purchased up til now and I really wanted a hand made Seydel, ill try it some more but think theres some bad notes mid scale and higher'it certainly is a handsome harmonica though.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Session Standard Harmonica:

I have 3 fairly new Seydels. So far the #7 blow reed has failed/cracked on 2 of the 3. I don't play real hard or do overblows or lots of bends. My Hohners and Lee Oskars, some are many years old, are still in great shape. Never had a reed fail before.

I love this new blues harp, such a rich tone, requires a little more air than my old hoener but not really noticable sound quality is well worth it. Great craftsmanship, handmade in germany.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Session Standard Harmonica:

Regarding blow notes, some are loud and easy to play, others require noticeably more effort to produce a clean sound. The draw notes seem more unstable than I'm used to. But don't go by me, I just started playing two months ago.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues Session Standard Harmonica:

The new ginish was a surprise. I hope it works as I am allergic to some covers. Plays so nicely. It just sound fuller, I guess, than other harps. This is not the new stainless reed harp. I need more time to decide on those, but sure want to try the new lows in stainless. My stainless low C only lasted a few weeks. But low Eb has been ok...not used much. Still better than other harps in the depth of sound.
