I'm a long-time guitar teacher and I recommend this guitar to all my students seeking a good quality, first electric guitar. I think I remember 4 students who have all bought these, and none were disappointed. I remember one required a little adjustment of the string height, but that was not difficult at all to do. The other 3 were perfect. The pickups sound pretty good, and the guitar plays well for the money.

Bought this on sale thinking it would be something I could loan out or let people play during jam sessions. But after spending about 2 hours trying to fix the intonation and an annoying buzz on the lower strings between the 10th - 14th frets I gave up (yes I adjusted the truss rod). The intonation was the biggest issue. Even with my strobe tuner and lots of tweaking at the bridge with the saddle lengths, I could never get the basic open chords at the bottom of the neck to play remotely in tune with each other. The string buzz would probably be solvable with some fret work but why bother if the intonation is so far off? You'd think with modern machining the fret spacing and intonation would be a non-issue. Oh and if for some reason you do buy this, you'll want to file down the edge of the frets. They are a tad sharp. Not awful but enough to annoy you.

The electronics are actually OK and the humbucker at the bridge packs a decent punch. Personally, it would have made more sense to put the single coil at the bridge for some snap and move the H to the neck or mid but whatever. It sounded nice for a cheap guitar.

Oh and the finish was excellent. No glitches, neck had a nice satin feel. Yeah you can see the wire leads off the two single coil pickups in the cavity but that didn't bother me at all (like it does others).

Great value!

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I recommend this guitar for all of my students who need to purchase their first guitar. If I remember correctly, 5 of my students now use this guitar or the slightly smaller Rogue RR50. The necks are decent, the construction is reasonably good, the finish is reasonably good and they sound quite good. I tell parents that this is the best deal out there and I am confident that you will not find a better guitar for the money.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I'm not by any means an expert guitar player. I've owned one other electric guitar, a Fender Strat Squire. I think this has a much better sound than the Squire did. Sometimes you're over paying for a name.

Yep its a Rogue and yep got it on sale for 60 something bucks. ( I do have a Fender Strat, 3 Epiphone Les Pauls etc etc) And this thing rocks! Run it thru a Danelectro Tuna Melt echo pedal to the old Fender amp and you got some serious fun! At least I do, I ain't particular. Got the wine burst, looks really nice.

Until I can afford a Gibson SG this is perfect to practice, it's not a toy sound or a little child sound, for such a low price it has a sound you can be proud of, the sound of a real guitar.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I purchased the Rr100 as a gift for my son who was interested in learning to play the guitar. The package arrived in good shape, but that was basically the only positive of this guitar. The frets extend past the fretboard so far, they were actually slicing into my finger as I was trying to play it. I returned to my local GC (no problems with the customer service of GC, merely the manufacturer of the guitar) and every model of the Rr100 in stock there exhibited the same exact issue. I did end up having to pay quite a bit more than my initial purchase price to get a guitar that was in playable shape for my son. I would NOT buy a rogue product again based on this experience. I do understand the adage that you get what you pay for, but what I paid for was a guitar I couldn't even play without being injured. Considering my son's hands are smaller than my own, I'm sure the injuries he could have sustained would have been much worse than what I did.

The guitar looks & sounds great. The neck is decent, and the pickups give you a variety of sounds. The only down side is the factory installed strings... I had to stretch them a few times before it would hold tune at all.

A good guitar for the beginner or novice.

I am actually quite pleased with this low budget guitar. Same as a Squire and others like it...probably all made at same factory...so they have got it down on how to build cheap but still have a usable instrument. I am happy with the tone selection and have to admit plays better than I expected...30 yrs of playing here so not a novice or beginner...Cheers Tim Alaska....if ya get fret buzz use the little Allen wrench to lift strings up a little higher off the neck!.. ;-)

I have a 1964 Fender Mustang that I purchased new from Fender, 1976 Ovaion Maple Viper purchased new. When RR100 Black arrived, it was packaged well, no damaged and guitar was in perfect condition. Needed to change strings, oil fretboard and file the fetts, sharp ends. When plugged it in to my Blackface Princeton reverb amp, could not believe the sound from the guitar. Love the action of the neck and the pickups are killer. Very pleased and surprized. I have been a loyal G.C. customer from the day that it opened in San Diego and I have never been disappointed with the quality of gear and customer service. I gave it 4 stars was the work needed to get playable. Thx

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

Open box item, but was not told of the crack in the finish on the guitar. Not a big deal since I'm just starting out. But would have been nice to know before hand. And the nut that holds in the amp jack was off and I have to do minor surgery to fish out the jack and re-secure. Other than that, everything is great!
