Description
The Best Cane
Ets Rigotti owes part of their reputation to their materials. The canes of the Var, and Cogolin regions of France are among the best in the world. Grown alongside rivers and streams, in an large area that is maintained all year round.
Cutting
Rigotti Gold reeds are cut during a winter afternoon over four months from December to March. When the cane has reached maturity (after two years when it measures seven to eight meters with a diameter of 26cm to 32cm), it is cut left in the open where it will be worked on. The work on the reeds is split into stages: Rigotti use 'plumes' to dispose of all the excess and 'feathers', and only keep the 2 or 3 meters from the base (the rest is either burned or used as bamboo). Then the tubes are cut (from the base to the top), and the knots are thrown to obtain batons suited to music. This is where the true work starts, as each tube is calibrated to a particular instrument. The double reeds are for the oboe and bassoon, which must be wet to be bent and attached.

Love the Rigotti sax reeds

You get more reeds that sound excellent out of the box. You do need to break these in with 2 or 3 practices. Its the quality, sound, resistance, even from top to bottom. My Couf Tenor is more fun to play with these reeds. H. Couf Superba ll, Vandoran T95, Rigotti 3 Soft Reeds. Great for all styles of music and especially Modern Funky Smooth Jazz, R-n-B, Funk, Rock.

I use these with my Dukoff D8 mouthpiece on a 1929 Conn stencil. They are my go-to cane reeds. I've tried other brands, but these are my favorite. I play blues, jazz, & oldies. I have several Dukoff mouthpieces. I had my absolute favorite mouthpiece completely refurbished earlier this year by Nicolas, the owner of Dukoff Mouthpieces. I can not say enough good about him, or these reeds. They all combine to help me get my honk on, like Clifford Scott, Lee Allen, or Grady Gaines.

Very consistent box to box, on the bright side but very full. Rigotti is the best cane reeds out there for my personal tastes. They remind me of the old Rico Royals before the take over, just a hair brighter.
Outstanding performance
