Great value, very good guitar

I spent ALOT of time comparing electric guitars for my latest purchase. I needed something that would stand up to being the primary electric guitar in my collection. I needed something that could handle heading off to school to major in guitar/music. I needed something versatile enough to go from jazz and blues into any other area I wanted to explore. I needed something that I could afford and made sense for the money invested. I ended up finding what I needed in a comparison of the Sheraton and this one, the Joe Pass Emperor II. The main difference between the two ended up being that I preferred the hollow body of the Joe Pass model to the semi-hollow of the Sheraton. Beyond that, the two guitars are quite similar. This guitar has quickly become the one I use every day. I still like to work with my acoustics and a Stratocaster, but I just enjoy the diversity this guitar offers me. And with a fairly low price, you can?t make a mistake in adding this one to your collection.

A lot of flash with liitle substance

Putchased a Joe Pass at local GC. In store it sounded OK (suggestion - never try and check out a guitar's sound in any GC store there is way to much noise from wannabees. Took it home and this thing buzzed from everywhere. Took it back, paid to have the luthier do a complete setup, changed strings, etc... Picked it up, took it home and although it was somewhat better it still had a buzz on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 6th strings around mid neck. Took it back to store, general consensus between luthier, store manager and myself was that the buzzing was coming from the pick guard, tail piece or both. Nothing they wanted to do to remedy the problem - afterall how much time are you going to spend on a $500.00 guitar? Returned it for replacement - new out of the box - and I'll be if it didn't have the same buzz from the same notes. The salesman and I were quite surprised - really. Needless to say I did not purchase the Joe Pass or any other Epiphone. Purchased a Ibanez AG-95 instead.

Surprise Christmas gift for my husband after I watched him drool over his friends exact same guitar! He's in heaven and it sounds great. Worth every dollar! Thanks to his friend for hooking me up with Guitar Center and being able to get it just 1 day before Christmas Eve. Thanks Guitar Center for the best 2 day air rate too! No one is that cheap before Christmas for 2 day air and I ordered this on a Sunday night too!

Love this guitar. Been wanting a "jazz box" for some time. I wish I could do it justice.

I've been playing a very long time, both professionnaly and for fun, and have owned many different guitars through the years (Martin, Fender, Gibson, Taylor, Hofner, etc.). The Joe Pass that I recently purchased is my first Epiphone. It is clearly among the best constructed guitars I've ever owned. The playabilty is similar to the newer Gibsons. The neck feels a little bulkier, but for some that may be a good thing. As a personal preference, I feel that the use laminated wood on this type of guitar is a positive thing because laminated wood is generally stronger and less likely to warp (It is after all, an amplified instrument). The electronics work well, are simple to adjust and sound very good through a Fender Deluxe amplifier. Guitar preferences are subjective. For me, this was one of my best picks.

I've owned many guitars in my 65 years of playing, some I loved and some I hated. I presently own several guitars i.e.. Ibanez GB200, Ibanez Scofield model, both fine instruments and very expensive. The Epiphone Joe Pass Emporer II, when you consider the price or even if you don't, is an awesome axe. Once I set it up to suit me, I was knocked out with the tone and playability. I've read some complaints about extraneous noise from the bridge or the pick guard or tailpiece. I haven't experience any of this. I know replacing the Epiphone humbuckers with Gibsons would help increase volume, but I don't want to mess with this guitar. The volume is fine and the tone is gorgeous. The finish is fantastic, downright beautiful. Great job Epiphone!!

This is a ۡ̏Pro Playerۡݕ_ Studio Jazz Guitar! I have the Vintage Sunburst version. There is a difference between this guitar and letۡs say a Gibson Custom ES 175 Reissue, but not $3,000 difference. I set the guitar up and changed the strings to Thomastik GB112ۡs. Now why do I make such bold claims; Iۡll explain how I use this particular guitar as follows: I plug into my Pro tools console using a Mogami Gold Cable. I then use my software to create the type of sound I need. Setup a track and then on the inserts I use Waves Gold Q10, C1, True Verb, S1, and L1. I set the guitar controls to rhythm, volume 10, tone 8, and turn off the other pickup. I use Dunlop Max Grip Jazz III Carbon Fiber Picks, and record my background rhythm tracks. For my leads I will use the bridge pickup alone with the same settings. If I need more of a selection in my leads I will go through a DigiTech Multi Effects board. I have used this setup and compared it to everything I could find and there is no way that you can tell the difference between this guitar and one costing thousands of dollars more. If you try to play some other genre of music it will not be the best choice, such as Funk, or anything that would require a Fender Strat, or Les Paul. You just have to use this guitar properly for what it is designed for and that is first Jazz Rhythm and then Leads. You will be very happy with the quality and sound of the Joe Pass Emperor II guitar.
