I was a violin teacher recommended to the students of this violin, because in this price is a good, beautiful sound and fast response is very easy to play, also the workmanship is very elegant.

  • No, absolutely not, not for this price...

For the price this doesn't appear to be the best deal out there... go check The FiddlerShop. They have their own luthiers. 1 luthier makes their 'Artist' version in it's entirety & it's absolutely stunning. Plus the price is much less than this one. I('ve done a LOT of shopping around & the FiddlerShop Artist violin is at least comparable to a $1000+ violin anywhere else, including here. (no offense Guitar Center. Your guitars RAWK, but your violins leave something to be desired. Call The Fiddlershop & start letting them supply your violins) (& no, I'm not affiliated with them at all, I'm just a budding violinist that's done his homework & know what's out there at what price...)

It was packaged perfectly, and sounds great. The colour is very nice than the picture but it is still beautiful! I would definitely recommend. The bow that comes with it is also wonderful. I'm very impressed!!

This violin was a gift for my son who plays in a local Youth Symphony. We heard good things about Ren Wei Shi and got what we thought was a awesome deal on a quality violin. When it arrived, my son's instructor made several recommendations to make it a great instrument - it needed different strings, the pegs dopped, new fine tuning screw, and a shorter bridge. She also recommended re-hairing the bow in the near future. All-in-all we spent $275. Then we took it to a friend who is a concert violinist. She was not happy with the sound, even considering we had paid so much to improve it. We heard her play it along side a less expensive violin. The cheaper one sounded better. To make matters worse, within 6 weeks the pins holding the handle to the case fell out. I don't blame Guitar Center - it's hard to know the individual qualities of each violin and as I said, Ren Wei Shi does have a good reputation.
