Remo Renaissance Emperor Snare Batter 18 in.

These heads are awesome absolutely great on snare. Headed my whole kit with these before. Very pleasant and warm punch. Might do that again someday , but sometimes these heads are hard to get.

I put these on a Mapex Saturn monster kit. These were replacing Evans EC2's on top of the toms. I've ALWAYS used Abassadors for bottom heads for 35 years. The EC2's sound good but need to be tuned up too many times before they stablize and stay tuned. Since I am now getting older and maybe my hearing not as it once was, I find myself desiring more resonance. As an experiment I decided to pair Renaisance Emperor top heads which are 2 ply 14mils with Evans G14 bottom heads which are 1 ply14mils. Hoping to get more resonance from bottom heads and better heard by the audience since they are the same thickness. BUT to my amazement the Renaisance Emperors have WAY MUCH MORE resonance than the G14's. In the end the head combo sounds good but I did not get more resonance as I had hoped. The Emperors are AWESOME but I will definitely change the bottom heads back to Ambassodors on the next head change. I put a Renaisance Powerstroke on the 13" brass snare and it is AWESOME. I pRenaisance Emperut the Renaisance "Ambassodor" on the 12" maple snare but it made the snare too loud. I've used the Renaisanse Ambassodor snare sides on bottom of snares for about 10 years now and they are DEFINITELY the best heads in the world for snare bottoms money can buy. Renaisance Series heads are absolutely one of the best sounding heads available. The Emperor and Ambassodor versions of Renaisance stabilize in thier tunings much faster than Evans EC2's. You can't go wrong with these heads. 5 stars

I put this head on the batter side of a Brady stave snare that I thought sounded like a cardboard box. Needed to have my head examined for buying such a d*mned expensive snare and it sounds like THIS?!?, et cetera It had a "controlled-sound-with-a-power-dot-head" on it when I got it new -- just didn't get it. But once I put the RenEmperor on it, the snare *sang* to me! NOW I get it. The drum sounds like it's worth way more than I paid for it. All fat, Memphis-y, warm, swampy, evil. THAT's how good the Renaissance Emperor head is. Dig it, brothers!

I've tried the Remo Renaissance heads in all weights except for the PowerStroke models, and I can say hands-down that I like the Emperors the best for my toms. I play Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz drums, and they just sing with these heads. I found the lighter weight versions of these (and the stock Evans) harder to get a good tone out of the drums. I highly recommend these heads. I think they make my entry-level kit sound like the high-end Gretsch kits, perhaps better. And, I do know from experience -over 30 years with a wide variety of drums and heads. These are my favorite for my toms. Fyi, for my snare I use a Renaissance Diplomat -excellent!

I bought this to replace the heads on my old set. The sound was deep and rich. Perfect for any type of heavy rock or metal. Great quality for the price and the sound is near perfect. Does require a bit of intense tuning to get it sounding good, but once you get the tuning, you wont regret it. Great buy for the money and perfect for any intermediate drummer playing rock or metal
