Remo's Skyndeep is the graphic infusion of pigment into the polyester surface of the head, making it uniquely attractive while maintaining the integrity of a great sounding drum head. The R-Series Skyndeep bongo head is weather-resistant, produces warm tones, and increases sound volume and projection in any environment.

Traditionally, drums like congas, bongos and djembes have drum heads made with animal skins. These have worked very well for many hundreds of years and are still used on many drums. With 50 years of drum head technologies, Remo's synthetic drum heads for world percussion instruments have proven to be a sound choice.

With the help of the best percussionists in the world, Remo has improved the sound and feel of the drum heads, providing the world's top players the tools they need to create their music. Remo's synthetic drum heads provide easy tunability, durability and playability. With Remo's new Crimplock Symmetry, Type 4 conga drum heads now fit more bongo drum models from the leading manufacturers in the industry.

Natural rawhide heads have to be constantly tuned to the right pitch especially in very hot and humid conditions but not with these synthetic heads. The calfskin finish also simulates the look of a real skinned drumhead. The sound is phenomenal. Detuning after gigs or sessions is strictly optional but I always detune, just a natural habit. The crimplock design also gives the drums I use a very clean looking professional appearance and the finish is very smooth on the hands, less roughness overall. I would highly recommended this to a fellow percussionist as a much needed backup or as a primary part of their equipment.
