I use Remo clear Diplomats on the bottoms of all my toms, either paired with coated ambassadors for recording, Clear or coated ambassadors for jazz, emperors or pinstripe for my rock gigs. And since Diplomats are thinner than ambassadors and emperors , they help add brightness and sustain which is great for gigs lacking close drum mic'ing. I have tried other comparable heads from the competition, but always return Home to Remo
Good combo with the Powerstroke 4.

The Weatherking Diplomat as a bottom head used with the Powerstroke 4 on top gives the right amount of tone and sustain that I was looking for.

Bought the Remo clear Diplomats for bottom heads. They Sound great!Excellent resinance.I use Remo Pinstripe on top on my 10" 12" 13" & 14" toms,I use a Remo Power Stroke 3 on the 16" floor tom. I wanted to try the power stroke series so put one on my floor tom & it sounds great! Diplomat Clear is an excellent bottom head! The Pinstripe & Power Stroke sound great with them! I never use anything but Remo!
Excellent as resonator heads

I use these as the resonator heads on my toms. I bought them to try on a sort of lark. I was certain they wouldn't work. I thought they would take too much bass out of the sound of my toms. Boy, was I wrong! Turns out the resonator heads don't affect that particular aspect much; it's the batter heads that determine that (I use clear Pinstripes). However, what these heads will do is add a lot of sustain to your sound. No matter what combination of heads I tried I couldn't get the degree of sustain that I wanted til I tried these. If you like a lot of sustain on your toms, use these as your resonator heads and you won't go wrong. (Here's a hint for tuning, though. They're thin and single ply, so they'll have to be tuned less tightly than your batter heads in order to vibrate at the same pitch as the batters. With Pinstripes, I have to tune the Diplomats about 5 marks lower on my DrumDial gauge: 75/70). Hope this helps...
