Ultra-Light, Ultra-Strong
The Bass Block is so light you might forget you are carrying it to the gig! Using an ultralight aluminum chassis, internal fan-cooled heat sink, and ferreting out every ounce possible, the Bass Block manages to pack 800 watts into a sturdy and insanely lightweight 4-lb. package.
Real-World Power at Any Voltage
Using high power technology developed for world-class pro audio touring, the Bass Block 800 delivers effortless reserves of power to maintain tight control of the speaker without clipping or bottoming out. The universal-voltage power supply delivers smooth and powerful response regardless of “club voltage” surges. The amp works on any voltage, anywhere. Plug it in, turn it up, enjoy the effortless beauty of the tone!
The Most Musical Bass Head Ever
Pat Quilter’s first amp was built in 1967 for his brother’s bass player, and great bass tone remains a key passion. The modern bass is a full-range instrument, with much different dynamic requirements than electric guitar. Low frequencies require more horsepower to move air, and the instrument demands percussive response without bottoming out or obtrusive limiting.
The Bass Block provides 800 “real watts” to build on, and the preamp is optimized to make the best use of that power, providing more effective headroom with less stress on the speakers. Unique bass-specific EQ controls allow the bassist to quickly dial in a wide range of tones to match any instrument, and a special 2-stage limiter prevents bottoming out without suppressing dynamic response and feel. A Master control allows the peak power point to be adjusted to safely power any size of speaker, from giant stacks down to compact studio units. A prolonged field testing program has confirmed that every component in the Bass Block 800 is focused on creating the ultimate musical instrument for bass players. You will feel it every moment of every gig. Effortless, powerful, and exacting tone at your fingertips.

I used this stand alone and with Ampeg preamps in front of it (SVP-PRO and an SVP-CL). Use it with 4x10s 6x10s and 8x10s, and even an old school Peavey 1820 and the BB800 pumped out every watt of 800 watts. It has a great smooth sound. Lost it in a house fire but I will be buying another one.

I bought this after my repair tech told me he bought one. I tried his out and hooked it to my Goliath III 4 x 10. I used it out on a job and I was impressed with the tone, ease of use and the output so I went out and bought it. I play in a variety/ wedding band and have tried many amps and cabs in the 40 years as a professional musician and this one gets me the most excited. I've owned the SWR sm900 and many others and without question the Quilter did the job just as well with a fraction of the weight. I was able to dial in my sound with just the few knobs. Very cool! And the portability and weight of this thing makes me want to get on my knees and thank the Lord that somebody made something like this to help me with my aging back issues. So light weight! For sure, buy this thing!!! Now I have to find a super lightweight small cab that this amp won't blow up and I'll be all set. Any suggestions anybody's?

This amp is a real winner. The power, as with many Class D amps isn't quite as much as the stated wattage, but it is loud and punchy. The amount of grind and kick may seem restrained because I am playing an upright, though I did test her with one of my 5 string electrics with a larger speaker cabinet, and I ran more pre gain on that run. With the upright, all knobs are at 12 0'clock, because uprights love flat sound waves. It is set up to do a great job as a double threat if I ever go back to gigs that require both upright and electric. She's gigged with me a few times and seems to have an intuitive set up with the Active and Passive inputs, Mute button, and the Depth and Contour knobs. I enjoy playing around with my electric because in conjunction with the throttling up or down of Master Volume vs. Gain and varying EQ via Depth and Contour knobs allows for a lot of very handy tone colouring.
Great amp for sure.

I bought this amp 8/16(when they first came out) as a back up. After using it for gig,I was sold. Plan on buying another BB 800. I use it with a 1/15 or 2,4/10 and or a fridge.
Very powerful yet simple to use. Crazy light weight!

I've used this on Jazz gigs with a small 1x10 cab for upright and on a louder Disco/Funk gig with a 2x12 and a 5-string bass. The clarity and sheer power are very impressive. The overall tone seems pretty neutral, with plenty of whatever you need on tap. I like the minimal tone controls. I'm not a big fan of amps with lots of knobs. This gives me just what I need and nothing more. (This amp does not seem to have a distinct baked-in personality the way many bass amps do, for better and for worse...) I still can't believe how small and light this thing is for what it does (and I've been using micro heads for close to 10 years). Most amps these days have a fully functional DI built-in. The XLR line out here isn't quite the same thing. It should do in a pinch but you need to be mindful that there's no way to change your stage volume without affecting the send. The XLR input might prove handy for patching in a second instrument or using the amp head as a power amp.
