I have used the PreSonus Blue Max Compressor for a few years now. Its great for digital recording on your PC. The instructions are very detailed and helps you get the best sound out of it. There are better out there, but for the price this is one of the best.

The Presonus Blue Max is basically a preset compressor. It works well overall, has a decent sound and controls and is well built, and is fine for a budget unit, but you would be better off saving your money for a mono DBX or spending more and getting a UA 1176. It's about on par with software dynamic processors in Roland recorders. Functional, but not great. If you are looking for serious control or pronounced "effect" then this unit is not for you. If you are looking for something to tame your tracks in a subtle manor on a tight budget then this unit is worth considering.
