Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ | Walkthrough and Tutorial

Description
A standalone 4-channel DJ controller, the Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ gives you a professional setup in an all-in-one unit. With its familiar club-style layout and USB inputs, the XDJ-XZ is ready to take over the booth at any venue. You'll get the pro-quality sound and precision controls Pioneer DJ is known for, with a touchscreen for browsing tracks, performance pads for triggering Hot Cues and effects, and compatibility with industry-standard rekordbox and Serato DJ software right out of the box.

Intuitive Layout
The XDJ-XZ has the same general layout as two Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS2 media players with a DJM-900NXS2 mixer, so any DJ familiar with Pioneer DJ gear will feel right at home. The mechanical jog wheels are the same size as the NXS2 player, and the mixer section has a similar button, knob and fader layout. You'll have an experience on par with festival DJs who use Pioneer DJ pro equipment.

Versatile Connectivity
With dual USB inputs, XLR microphone inputs and a USB connection for your laptop, the XDJ-XZ works with any DJ setup. You can play from USB drives, connect CDJs or turntables to the extra channels, use the mic inputs for yourself and an MC, or connect your laptop to DJ with rekordbox or Serato. Any DJ can walk up and feel confident using the XDJ-XZ, making transitions between DJs seamless.

Pro-Quality Sound
Pioneer DJ gear is the industry standard for DJ booths and festival stages because of its professional-grade sound quality. The XDJ-XZ is no exception—delivering high-resolution audio with a wide frequency range so your tracks always sound their best. The 4-channel mixer has a 3-band EQ on each channel, as well as Beat FX and Sound Color FX for dialing in the perfect sound.

Advanced Features
The 7" touchscreen lets you browse your tracks and see important information like waveforms, BPM and cue points. Use Pro DJ Link to sync connected CDJs to the XDJ-XZ. The performance pads trigger Hot Cues, Beat Jump and Beat FX on the fly. Between the touchscreen, jog wheel displays and performance pads, the XDJ-XZ keeps your head in the music rather than in your laptop.
For DJs who want a professional, all-in-one setup, the Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ delivers. With its club-style layout, pro-quality sound and compatibility with major DJ software, the XDJ-XZ lets you focus on your performance. Connect it to CDJs, turntables, mics or your laptop—the XDJ-XZ makes for a fun, seamless experience for you and your crowd.

A must have
This controller is not for everyone but for those of you who desire a full size professional standalone this is a must. I get it, it's really technically a 2 channel standalone mixer out of the box, unless you use your laptop or add peripheral devices. The controller is very responsive in all modes and has a great sound card, a very responsive fader, and full size very responsive jog wheels. You also get real-time information displayed on the color screen and the jog wheels. Is it better than the prime 4? I have both and unless either Denon or Pioneer creates a controller that has all of what the XZ and Prime 4 have, I will continue to use both.

Product no longer Supported by Pioneer - Stay Away
I purchased one of these units in Late 2019. Throughout the pandemic there was a large gap in venues that could be performed in so I only had the opportunity to put the unit through its paces a few times during live sets. Once restrictions were lifted and venues opened up I was able to book myself a couple of gigs and develop a steady income stream again. On the FIRST EVENT I was performing at and over eager member of the crowd rushed their way past security and managed to douse the unit with a full Margarita, killing the equipment and ending the performance early. Upon taking it to an authorized Pioneer Repair center in NYC I learned that the board that needed to be placed, a DWX4624 "Child Assembly" control board is no longer supported and is not in production and no stock is available NATIONWIDE!! Stay away if you are risk averse and are worried about damage to your unit. This unit, although precise and immaculate, renders the lowest review score possible because the Manufacturer failed to support the unit less than 3 years after inception. Shame on Pioneer.

I've had it for about four yrs now and it is my go to reliable gear for all my DJ mobile gigs. It always works. I have the Opus and rev7 also but this has all manual knobs in front of me—unlike the Opus—and it is stand alone- unlike the rev7–And it looks and sounds great- pro gear- my opus quad sounds and looks better but it has less features than my xz.
Great product 10 for 10 would recommend

The pioneer XDJ – XZ is the perfect controller for anybody. Whether you're a professional, intermediate, Or amateur/ beginner , You won't have to ever consider buying another . The quality is superb as to be expected by pioneer, Everything feels so solid and durable. It may be a little more than most other controllers, but this is probably the closest controller. You can buy next to a CDJ 3000.
Yes it's awesome!

I love this controller as does my daughter. We bought one for her and one for me and both are performing perfectly. The options on this device are unsurpassed and incredible sound quality comes out of this. Pioneer has been a trusted tried and true product and we have owned a couple in the past.
Ok. But needs a 2nd laptop input

Though I haven't purchased this init, I've worked on it a few times. I really only have one beef. Why have 2 thumb drive inputs but only ONE laptop input. If you're going from laptop to drive, no problem. But if you're trying to go laptop to laptop, you need a thumb drive for the transition.

Is this a true four channel stand alone? Does it have four channel when using rekordbox or Serato pro? Or do I need two external players to make this unit four channel?

2 questions. I see this has ethernet jacks on the back, is this for internet or is it for something else? If the answer is yes, can this connect to the internet wirelessly without a computer and will this read an NTSF formatted hard drive? FAT 32 can only support 2TB and I have need for larger hard drives and will this unit support this?
Yes it will read an external hard drive. And the Ethernet is to hook up your CDJ's to it so you can have 4 turntables linked together at the same time. IF you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can get you squared away.submitted6 years ago
