Peavey Your 450 Review

Peavey Your 450 Review

Peavey
Description
The Peavey Tour 450 Bass Amp Head offers tons of power plus extensive tone shaping tools, such as bright and low-cut switches, active high and low shelving controls, a contour control, and a 9-band graphic EQ configured to target critical bass frequencies. Its also includes a Peavey-exclusive sub-harmonic generator with level control and footswitchable bypass that adds a note one octave lower than the original note, creating interesting harmonic textures and a significantly enriched bottom end.

The Tour 450 delivers 450W RMS into 4 ohms. SmartRail technology, a new patented Peavey power-amp topology, makes it possible for the Tour Series to deliver its massive dynamic power with increased efficiency and lighter weight.

In addition, the XLR-equipped direct out allows traditional patching to a front-of-house or studio mixer, but features fail-safe phantom power backup that sends a flat signal through the house P.A. or studio console.

I have had this amp for a few months now, and it sounds great. You can get just about any sound you can imagine out this thing. It also has the power if you have the speakers to put it out. I use this with an Avatar 2x10 and 1x15, and it gets as loud as you'll ever need. It sounds best being run at 4ohms. The only negative thing about this amp, is that it doesn't have a level control for the DI out. I would like to say that the previous reviewer obviously didn't read the manual. This amp can use both standard 1/4 jack and speakon speaker cables. I have used both with mine.

I got this head before xmas because my GK backline head got all crazy on me. When I first got it I was just using a GK 410 sealed cab. I wasnt overly pleased with it but it worked well and was easy to use. plus I really liked the EQ that was built into the thing. I had been thinking about getting another GK head but lucked into getting a Peavey 810 cab. I plugged it up and OMG! the little head really started showing what it could do. Its powerful enough to drown out 2 guitarists with tube half stacks and the drums. I'm really happy. I may still buy that GK head but I would totally keep this for a good reliable back up. the one thing I dislike about it is it only has Speakon connections. I dunno what Peavey was thinkin there. Overall a good purchase. Get it.
