Paiste

collapse expand iconDescription

Paiste's 900 Series Heavy rides combine every drop of their 100+ years of cymbal-making knowledge to deliver an extremely articulate, pingy ride designed for heavy hitting drummers who need to project. These meaty rides create a fat, powerful sound with a large bell and long sustain. No matter how many amps the rest of the band stacks up, these rides will cut through any mix, with a bright ping and plenty of volume.

Well suited for rock. Strong bell, good ping, wash isn't too overwhelming. I'd like to try this in the colorsound version as it may be a little drier. Use the Paiste cleaners and protectors to preserve the clearcoat finish. Finish is a funky dry brushed black, it looks like, to simulate a raw finish. Different!

Nice ride for playing it like a ride in heavy music, I wouldn't crash this thing. This cymbal reminds me sound wise of my Zildjian Z custom ride. It has that glassy pingy defined bow but is lower in pitch on the bow than the Z. The bell on the other hand is a bit higher pitched than the Z's bell and it's clear and cutting. The Z always sounded choked to me on the bell so this cymbal is refreshing. It's perfect for playing metal. The bell is also a great size so don't worry, you won't miss it!
