Description
Stand out from the crowd with the PRS SE Swamp Ash Special. Part of the budget-friendly SE Series, this fresh-faced electric is constructed around a striking swamp ash body paired with a durable maple neck and fingerboard for extra snap and bite. A PRS-Designed AS-01 single-coil "S" pickup sits tucked between two 85/15 "S" humbuckers, delivering crisp tones versatile enough to handle everything from rock and country to blues and jazz. Plus, a PRS patented tremolo adds even more sonic expression to your playing and a touch of flair to any solo. Whether you were born on the bayou or you’re just dipping your toe in, the SE Swamp Ash Special provides style and comfort along with tons of tone and virtually endless options for sonic sculpting.

Lightweight Body, Balanced Sound
The PRS SE Swamp Ash Special electric offers a delectable balance of brightness and warmth, along with an articulation that makes it stand out in any mix. Plus, with ergonomic contours and the inherent lightness of swamp ash, this PRS solid-body guitar provides hours of comfortable playability whether it’s during a gig, rehearsal or recording session.

Maple Neck and Fretboard
Featuring a scarf joint for added durability, the neck of the PRS SE Swamp Ash Special is made from maple for a snappy tonal character and enhanced sustain. This is paired with a comfortable 22-fret fingerboard for easy movement whether you’re playing first-position chords or high-flying solos, and topped with the iconic, instantly recognizable PRS Bird inlays.

Powerful Pickup Configuration
Dual 85/15 "S" humbuckers flank a PRS-Designed AS-01 single-coil "S" pickup in the middle position, allowing for a multitude of tones. The AS-01 features both alnico and steel (hence the name), which adds mass to the pickup and sounds great overdriven. This versatile combination offers a tight low-end, a bright but mellow high-end and a twangy tone suited for a wide range of musical genres.

Shape Your Sound
Along with the HSH pickup configuration, the PRS SE Swamp Ash Special features a push-pull tone control and 3-way pickup switch to provide even more soundscapes to explore. Plus, this SE Series electric includes a PRS tremolo, making it easy to nail dive bombs and whammy attacks or add subtle vibrato to your playing.
No matter how you play, the PRS SE Series Swamp Ash Special gives you the tools to find your own sound and then add to it. With a versatile pickup configuration, 3-way switching and a PRS patented tremolo, this solid-body electric is a powerhouse addition to any guitarist’s collection. The swamp ash is my first PRS Guitar. I am now shopping for a"higher end "model I am so impressed! The Sunburst finish is absolutely beautiful. It plays like a dream with no issues even playing an F bar cord! I also play flamenco And classical and this is the only electric guitar I have that sounds really cool playing classical numbers. I own an American telle,American strat, Les Paul, several 12 strings and Francisco Navarro classical. Swamp ash is now my absolute number one player…. fantastic Guitar.!! And under$1000!! I would choose this over Gibson and fender, knowing how well it plays and how beautiful it looks. Sincerely.
Amazing guitar, also into PRS

Great looks, but with some small hard to notice scratches on the finish. Bird inlays look great. The action was high out of the box - 8/64s on the low E. 6/64s on the high E. When I lowered it to 5/64s and 4/64s respectively I got a lot of string/ fret buzz. The top of the frets are very smooth though. Tuners have some play in them- just so-so tuners. Using the tremelo more than a tiny bit knocks it out of tune, even after playing a couple hours and stretching the strings and lubing the nut. If you do not use the tremolo, it stays in tune pretty well. A lot of the fret ends stuck out and could be felt. I like the pick ups a lot. Nice smooth warm musical tones clean and with gain. The neck feels like it has minimal finish on it. Like after a few months it would be perfectly smooth. The neck profile feels like a full C, and is fatter than a modern fender. I'd call it a not-wide-fat, but very playable especially with the 25" scale. Weight: 7lbs14oz. Balance standing with a strap is perfect. The tremelo springs make a lot of noise so I tried a piece of foam and it worked to quiet them. My opinion is if this was your only guitar, or your first guitar you'd love it. If you already have some high end guitars, you may be disappointed. If you like working on guitars and don't mind imperfections, it's a great guitar. I was planning to play it live in a band setting. But the rough feeling fret ends and the tuning instability led me to return it. I got the blue iris color, btw, which was beautiful.

I had always kinda wanted a PRS. When these new SE models dropped a few weeks ago and were 20% off, I decided it was time. This guitar was perfect out of the box. Great setup, impeccable build quality, awesome sound and flexible pickup options. So glad I bought it!

Not too much to write about this other than it is fantastic. A PRS SE with HSH? Check. Swamp Ash body? Check. Beautiful maple neck AND fretboard? Check. Bolt-on in the SE family? CHECK. This guitar's got bite, attitude, but can mellow out very well and may as well be among my top favorites of my 25 guitars I own at the moment. Fret's polished nicely, set up fantastic out of the box, frets rounded too. No sharp ends anywhere. You could tell me that my example costs $2,000+ and I would believe it.

I'd like to know what the natural ash weighs?
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 7.5 – 9.0 lbssubmitteda year ago
