I recently purchased this guitar and have to say for the money it's an excellent value. I am a novice player but I own an American strat and a Les Paul amongst some others. I'm not saying this guitar is in that league but it's a beautiful guitar. It plays well. It sounds good and the workmanship is impeccable.

  • Fantastic guitar would buy another one if I had the money.

Prior to buying this guitar I was a TOTAL PRS fanboy. I watched all of the reviews online and the interviews from Paul, talking about how he wanted to create a better quality entry-level guitar, as to not discourage newbies from honing their craft when trying to overcome the issues with trash instruments. But from the moment I tried to strum the first chord I have been progressively more disappointed. Terrible fret buzz. The tremelo springs were anchored so poorly that the entire guitar buzzed. Then while at rehearsal I couldn't play in tune, no matter how many times I tuned up, so I played while still connected to the tuner and discovered SEVERE symptoms of tuning instability from the 5/6th fret down. When fretting any notes below the 5th fret the pitch will be an entire half step sharp. So I sent it in to get warranty work performed. It's only gotten worse from there. Suffice to say if Ryan, the Customer Service and Tech Support staff member I've been working with is the norm, PRS won't care about any issues you have unless you're spending $5k on a Core line instrument. He blamed my lack of understanding of how to play guitar and excessive neck relief for the issues, and kindly offered to charge me $150 to set up the brand new guitar properly. All in all you should look elsewhere for an affordable, middleweight guitar. If you're lucky enough to get a guitar that's good quality, awesome. If you aren't so lucky, good luck to you.

I needed an "everything guitar". This did great and had a great price as well. The two switches up and middle toggle will give an amazing 4th position strat duplication which I really like. Very easy to have a single coil on the neck and humbucker in the rear, but I've found I love single coil settings on both pickups the most, even with metal, it has this crazy attack to it. I played it next to an s2, the s2 had a fatter neck, but the sound was nearly the same (there is a slight difference). S2 seemed to have crisper switching, but that was really all. I liked the slimmer neck on the SE, so that's what I ended up with. Tremolo fluttering can definitely be done on this and it stays in tune after going wild on it.

Amazing sound and feel, I bought it a year ago, the hardware including the pickup selector are great and premium quality, the PRS pickups sound amazing even when they are passive, I'm really impressed!

the customer service is excellent, but with the PRS SE Standard 24 08, the selector with 3 positions of very poor quality, after two days it was ruined, I had very high expectations of the brand, but it has disappointed me
