Description

The PRS S2 McCarty 594 Thinline—an innovative evolution of the legendary McCarty model. Featuring dual 58/15 "S" humbucking pickups and a chambered mahogany body, this thinline powerhouse delivers authentic humbucking tones as well as nuanced single-coil sounds. The push/pull tone controls provide endless tonal variety to suit any musical mood or genre. The Pattern Thin neck plays fast and comfortably, while the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is intonated perfectly along its entire length.

Custom 58/15 "S" Humbuckers Create a Powerful Voice

The PRS 58/15 "S" pickups are specially voiced to provide exceptional clarity and harmonic richness. The bridge pickup delivers punchy, articulate tones that overdrive amps beautifully. The neck pickup is full-bodied and expressive. Together, they produce an organic tone with impressive sonic range. The push/pull tone controls enable single-coil modes for added versatility.

Chambered Mahogany Body Resonates With Sustain

The mahogany body is chambered to enhance resonance and sustain. Thinline construction makes this guitar comfortable to play whether sitting or standing. An elegant natural finish shows off the figured maple top and mahogany back.

Pattern Thin Neck Plays Fast and Smooth

The PRS Pattern Thin neck profile maximizes speed, comfort and performance. Its shallow carve and 24.594" scale length enable effortless position changes across the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Iconic PRS bird inlays provide stylish fretboard markers.

Built to Perform and Inspire

From its versatile electronics to its resonant chambered body to its fast-playing neck, the PRS S2 McCarty 594 Thinline is built for musical versatility, playability and inspiration. Premium components and PRS's impeccable craftsmanship ensure this guitar stays in tune and intonated gig after gig. A classic instrument reimagined for today's players.

I already own a PRS CE24 and an S2 Custom 24. Looking for a third PRS, I stumbled upon a "used" S2 594 in Antique White, in absolute mint condition at my local GC...no fret wear or scratches and it came with the PRS hard case. After setting it up with my favorite 10's, it plays buzz free with quite low action. The pickups are more on the low powered end of the spectrum but have a beautiful tone with great note separation. The guitar is very light and comfortable. The short scale and lower break angle over the bridge make for a pretty slinky feel and easy string bending. This would be a great guitar for women or for anyone with smaller hands. I have multiple Les Pauls, SG's and Strats and have to say this guitar is becoming one of my favorites! On this particular guitar, the push pull tone controls seem to be wired backwards and the humbucker position is with them pulled out. I will need to get it rewired...this is my only issue with it.

Great guitar! The short scale and pattern thin neck play like butter. Super lite!! Would be very good for long gigs. Humbuckers sound great even tapped. Stays in tune well. Mine is very resonant and loud unplugged. Love this guitar. Only knock is I wish there were some different finish and color options.

Out of the box the setup was high with .010 strings. It played like a log. After adjusting the nut slot depth and putting my favorite string gauges (8,11,14,24,34,44) on it, it is now set up lower than the factory specs and plays like a dream. I put a Hipshot B Bender on it too.

This guitar is fantastic! I had always wanted a Gibson Les Paul and I had finally gotten my dream Les Paul back in February. The guitar had a bunch of issues and I sadly returned it. The last guitar I had purchased before was a PRS Baritone and I absolutely LOVED it and knew that I would love another standard guitar from them. So I looked at tons of different potential models and the McCarty thinline was in my price range and what I felt would be the perfect replacement for the Les Paul. Hence the Ted McCarty reference. It's basically what you would expect if you combined a Gibson with a PRS. I especially love how light it is, and how it basically hugs your body rather than the big flat brick body feel from when I had the Les Paul. So moral of the story is if your looking for something that can rock, but are torn between a Gibson or a PRS just go with any of the McCartys. It's the best of both worlds and I love the feel of the thinline. I got the Tobacco Sunburst btw.

what color are the pickups? I see two black or gold in different photos. thanks!

    Open Reply - Ronald
It depends on the angle. They are gold tinted but the pictures only make it noticeable when you're looking at it from the side. The front view looks darker due to lighting.
    Open Reply - Ronald
They are gold. The darker looking is due to the angle.
