I didn't buy one from GC, but I own one. I use this stand to hold my ride cymbal. I use it extended (not straight, whatever you call it), and the cymbal stays well. Before I changed my setup a couple of months ago, the ride cymbal would tip over if pushed too hard. Keyword **lightweight**. It will hold very well, as long as you don't have a tendency to knock over your stands. Would recommend for practice, maybe performances.
Save Yor money and get something heavier

I bought a couple of these about five years ago. Yeah, they'll look cool holding your cymbal, but if you plan to use these while playing, be ready for it to fall towards you. These are just too light to be used as a boom cymbal
