Orange Amplifiers

Description

The Orange Crush CR120 is a 120W solid-state amp head that offers the tonal clarity and definition players adore in an Orange amplifier. The Crush CR120 amp is part of the Crush range, marking Orange's first foray into the world of high power, solid-state amplifiers. Orange have spent years creating a solid-state amp they could be proud of.

The Orange team wanted to keep these amp simple. The dirty channel uses a circuit based on four stages of gain and a three-band EQ, which provides the player with a wide pallet of over-driven and distorted sounds. The clean channel is based on a two-stage, two-band EQ design that gives the player a clean but warm sound, which, when cranked, begins to break up.

These amps have a transparent effects loop, allowing you to plug in your favorite pedals. It also contains a digital reverb that provides a natural-sounding spring, hall or plate reverb.

BEST SOLID STATE EVER!

The best sounding solid state head I have ever owned. I own 3 other Orange tube heads including a Rockerverb 50. Orange nails their signature tone with the CR120H! I have used this head live at real shows in 2000 plus seater venues for the past 2 weeks. Our fans who are guitar players cannot believe that it's a solid state and are blown away by the tone. It has massive amounts of quality gain. This amp is no toy. It is the real deal.

Not worth the cash, tone is hollow and sterile.

This amp is about as exciting as driving through Kansas. While being a better alternative to the obvious culprits of poor tone, like the Line 6 Spider, for the money it's not even close to some other amps you can get instead. I would suggest the Peavey Valveking and shelling out the extra $100.00 for a TUBE amp with real power and roar.

I use this amp for practice, home recording, and performances. When I tried this amp out in the store, I was impressed with the sound quality. I was especially impressed with the clean channel. I was in question with the dirty channel however, but decided to buy it anyways. When I finally got it set up in my own place, I realized the full extent of the dirty channel. The built in gain for the amplifier was a bit too beefy (almost muffled) for my taste. The gain setup, in my opinion, was definitely made for some of the older styles of rock music. I felt the eq in the dirty channel was also a bit limited in the range of controlling the amount of "thickness." Lucky me, I have a separate distortion pedal and eq pedal to take care of everything on the clean setting, which solved everything. I have been happy with it since. I would switch to the dirty channel for other styles when needed. Overall, the sounds are still good and it is definitely still committed to the "Orange Sound" compared to the more pricey selections from Orange. If you get this amp, make sure that you have invested in an eq and distortion pedal for more versatility.

I play mostly metal and this amp handles high gain like a champ. Clean channel sounds great with plenty of warmth. It's built like a tank so I'm fairly certain this guy will last a while. Would recommend!

Upgraded from a crush 35rt combo. Great upgrade, awesome British crunch sound. This amp acts like a tube amp, if you crank the clean it will start to break up. The unit has more than enough power for small gigs and any home use, I power an 8x10 speaker cab with the cr120. A definite buy if you are even considering this amp, can't beat it for the price.

This is one amazing amp. The tonal options allow for any style of music. Super cleans, all the way to the heaviest metal. Having a 35rt and Micro Dark, this Car120 is quiet different but in all the right ways. Having a master volume allows you to crank the clean volume to a nice breakup while keeping the overall volume manageable at headroom levels. The reverbs sound great and give you three options. Along with the quality, it just looks stunning. It also takes pedal very well.

Was in the market for a new setup. I have a Micro Dark head, and I have had many Orange amps in my past. This is the best (in my honest opinion) when wanting a solid foundation for finding your own sound. I run mine through a 2x12 has more than enough gain in it. I dont normally run any pedals just plug and play is how I work with mine. Great alternative if you dont want to replace any tubes if they do happen to burn or break on you

Will this have enough power to run it with a Marshall 4x12 cabinet? Or would it be better to split the 4x12 into a 2x12 cabinet?

This amp head would definitely have enough power to run a 4X12 cabinet.

As long as the cab is 120 watts (the same as the head) it will be compatible

    Good for death metal?

    Open Reply -
It's powerful enough to be heard and it has a very nice clean setting which makes it work well with effects pedals so it's really adaptable. This would be a great choice for death metal.
