Tones with Tyler Bryant – UAFX Pedal Sessions

Description
UAFX 2.0 Firmware Update
Launching November 11, 2025, the UAFX 2.0 firmware update delivers a major performance upgrade to Universal Audio’s two-button pedals, unlocking deep MIDI integration, enhanced footswitch control, and streamlined app connectivity. Players can now select from four new footswitch modes—Live/Preset AB, A/Bypass + B/Bypass (Tour Mode), A/B–C/D, and Boost + Live/Preset—ideal for live “channel-switching” workflows. The update introduces 128 recallable presets via MIDI Program Change, real-time parameter control through MIDI CC messages, and MIDI beat clock sync for time-based effects including the Starlight Echo Station, Astra Modulation Machine, Galaxy ’74 Tape Echo & Reverb, and Del-Verb Ambience Companion. Bluetooth connectivity has been rebuilt from the ground up for increased reliability, while a new wired USB connection enables direct app control from iOS or Android devices. USB MIDI support further enhances expression, preset switching, and clock sync capabilities, making it easier than ever to integrate UAFX pedals into modern performance rigs. All updates are free and compatible exclusively with dual-footswitch UAFX models.
The Universal Audio UAFX Dream '65 Reverb Amp pedal provides guitarists with the iconic sound of a vintage tube combo amplifier and spring reverb unit. This innovative pedal, from the experts at Universal Audio, utilizes their groundbreaking Dynamic Room Modeling technology to capture every nuance of a legendary 1x12" tube combo—from the preamp to the power amp to the spring reverb tank and speaker. The result is an incredibly lifelike recreation of one of the most recorded guitar amps of the 1960s that delivers everything from sparkling cleans to saturated overdrive with the stomp of a footswitch.
Three Amp Voicings Provide a Wealth of Tonal Options
The Dream '65 offers three distinct amp voicings—Stock, Lead and D-Tex—each with its own sonic fingerprint. The Stock voicing recreates the original amp in all its glory with lush, crystalline cleans. The Lead voicing has an aggressive midrange punch for searing lead lines. The D-Tex voicing is a Texas-inspired hot-rodded version with increased gain and midrange for a smooth, overdriven tone. A Boost control provides up to 10dB of clean gain to push each voicing into overdrive.
Authentic Spring Reverb and Vibrato Complete the Vintage Experience
No vintage tube combo amp is complete without the lush, dimensional sound of spring reverb and warbling vibrato. The Dream '65's reverb and vibrato effects are modeled from an iconic "golden unit" amplifier to deliver an immersive sonic experience that transports players back to the halcyon days of rock and roll. Adjustable Reverb and Vibrato controls allow you to dial in the perfect amount of each effect.
Dynamic Speaker Modeling Provides Lifelike Tone
At the heart of the Dream '65's incredibly realistic tone are the expertly crafted speaker cabinet simulations. The pedal includes models of three speaker and microphone combinations: a Celestion Greenback 25W, an Electro-Voice EVM12L, and an original Oxford 12K5. Registering the pedal with Universal Audio provides access to additional speaker models for an even wider range of tones. The speaker models are seamlessly matched to the three amp voicings to provide an end-to-end capture of this vintage tube combo's sound.
Enhanced Control Via Bluetooth App
The Dream '65's capabilities are expanded via the Universal Audio UAFX Control app which provides enhanced editing parameters, access to artist presets and more. The app allows you to customize the pedal's footswitches, save and recall your own presets, and unlock additional features. Bluetooth connectivity makes pairing the pedal and app a snap.

My setup is a pedal board sent to a power amp so having a pedal that sounds 1 to 1 like a real amp was imperative fo me and this pedal gets the job done

This is exactly what I was looking for. The spring reverb sounds just like the real reverb unit in a Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb and the tremolo is spot on as well. As for versatility from clean to overdriven it's got it. It has great headroom and is touch and volume sensitive. STOKED!!!

I like that I don't have to use all these menus, though you can use an app for more versatility if you want to. I have three Princeton amps and a Marshall 18 watt. I like that I can get a nice overdrive sound with the Dream '65 through my tube amps.

This thing truly is a "dream" to play. The different amp and cabinet sounds are quite flexible and easy to dial in. I don't miss using a tube amp whatsoever. Playing the pedal through the Fender Frfr sounds so real and feels great.

Using this to slim down my touring rig. I get all the sounds I want and now won't have to lug around my amps.

How does this sound when recording directly into a DAW (eg GarageBand)? Can you use the USB-C direct into your computer or do you have to use a 1/4 cable input through an interface (eg Scarlett)?
A pedal has nothing to do with a recording. It will sound the same as from an amp, if you do it correctly. 2) No, the USB is to update. You need an interface.submitted2 years ago

How does this sound through the front of an amp? If I pull the trigger on getting thus, I'll more than likely use 4-cables, but just wondering.
A oppoed to a loop? It'll sound fine.submitted2 years ago

Can you run the Dream 65 directly into a mixer/PA via 1/4" TS (not TRS) cable or do you need to first run it into an interface or DAW?
Yes you can. The pedal puts out pretty much what a guitar does and the 1/4" input will accept it.
