collapse expand iconDescription

The award-winning 710 Twin-Finity is a radically new UA mic preamp design that combines both the classic retro warmth of tubes with the transient bite of solid-state, all in a 2U, half-rack unit. The 710 was created specifically to add the tonal versatility and sonic inspiration missing from generic audio interface preamps. Tone blending is continually variable between 100% tube and 100% solid-state, offering a practically infinite range of unique preamp tones, plus the ability to easily dial-in your own signature sound. There are lots of sensibly priced solid-state and tube preamplifiers out there, but the 710 is the only one that offers the best of both worlds - as well as everything in-between - all in one box, and within reach of any serious project studio's budget.

The key to its sonic flexibility lies in its innovative circuit design, featuring a solid-state transimpedance input amp simultaneously driving separate, phase-aligned tube and solid-state gain stages, which are then summed to a single output. The mix between the 310 volt single-ended class-A triode tube stage and solid-state transimpedance stage is controlled via the "Blend Knob" labeled "ˆž". Blending is continually variable between 100% tube and 100% solid-state offering a practically infinite range of unique pre-amp tones and the ability to easily dial-in your own signature sound.

Like all our other preamp designs, the 710 features dual gain-stage controls (Gain/Level) which can radically vary the amount of coloration and distortion by allowing you to crank up the input gain like a guitar amp. The VU meter features a unique "Drive" mode allowing you to see how hard you are driving the input stage.

Versatility makes the 710 the perfect preamp partner for any mic collection. Plus, the discrete JFET DI input circuit can also easily handle any electric instrument. Guitar and bass players will especially appreciate the 710s ability to bring out the best of both active and passive pickups. The 710 Twin-Finity includes a 19" rack-kit for mounting one or two units.

I'm on the fence w this unit. To get an acceptable signal level into my daw (vocals) I have to set level to 9 , that's almost 100%. Second it's hard to hear difference between the blend knob settings. If you do it's subtle. Unfortunately I don't hear the magic and will consider selling. Thanks to guitar center they didn't hesitate and sent me a replacement. Same issue w the second. I do record children and that means this pre will be useless w. children since I need to crank level to 9 on an adult. Last I'm not a fan of the vintage look and this goes w other current recording hardware. And I prefer leds vs meter. If you go to UA site you'll read a review w same concern I have.

I just picked up a 710 and hooked it up I was using another mic pre and it sounded alright but he second I hooked up the twin finite my life changed it went from searching for that clear professional sound to having it. The clarity and warmth the tube side has to offer is in matches the solid state has bit and a fullness I love this mix pre it's a game changer I own a studio and am using A tlm79 Neumann and it really lets the Neumann fly and gives that professional sound recording enthusiasts are looking for also the ability to still rack mount it is amazing I defiantly recommend this piece of gear for every studio

This is a piece of equipment that I had worked with since about 2010 in a professional studio, but never had a chance to purchase for my own home studio until now. Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this preamp! The ability to blend tones, as well as the simplicity and classic sound that is achievable is unmatched at this price range. My home use is mostly vocals, but it works equally as great for instrumentation. I am currently utilizing it with my Sterling Audio ST69 and the combination of tube sounds has taken my home studio recordings to the next level. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is considering taking that jump to a more professional sound!

This preamp is very clean in both solid state and tube. I bought it to match with my U87 for clean male vocals, and I love the match. I wouldn't say this pre is a character piece and the tube side is just slightly warmer than the solid state side. You can drive this pre into a clean musical distortion in either setting. If you are looking for a clean transparent pre I would go for it! If you need more mojo, you may want to look for elsewhere. I gave this unit four stars because it's not as solid as you'd hope for in this price range. Also, I wish there was a more noticeable difference between the solid state and the tube side. Ultimately, I'm pleased so far!
