This Tama drum throne is very solid and sturdy. I replaced my Roc-n-Soc saddle throne for this round throne for several reasons. First, the Roc-n-Soc throne would wobble from side to side which is not good for your back and I had to tighten it up after every song. What a pain! The Tama throne is very solid and does not wobble at all. The second reason is that after many years of using saddle thrones, I wanted to switch back to a round throne and I like it much better. The Tama throne is thick and looks like it would be very soft, but it is not. It is stiffer than my Roc-n-Soc throne and offers much more support. It may get a bit softer over time. I love the cloth top, it is really nice and comfortable! A quality drum throne is arguable the most important piece of hardware for drummers, so I recommend you spend a little more and buy a quality throne like the Tama 1st Chair which will help you avoid back problems (as long as you play with your chest out and back straight). The 1st Chair is built really well and should last a very long time so the money will be well spent!
