Open Box Quilter Labs 101 Reverb 50W Guitar Amplifier Head Level 1

Description
With other popular features, such as limiter and FX loop, the 101 Reverb means serious business. Featuring an interesting new take on the usual three-knob EQ section, the bass and treble controls use traditional “tone stack” technology, yielding a familiar bright chime based on 50 years of tradition, while the active mid control provides a more strongly voiced cut/boost function for increased versatility. Increasing the mid control boosts the frequencies that give an aggressive “D-Style” bite to the sound, while decreasing mid brings out that familiar clean-'60s blackface tone.
On the stage
The 101 Reverb carries forward all the tone and power you've come to expect, while forging new sonic territory. Unlike last-generation solid-state technologies, Quilter amplifiers have enormous internal headroom far above the published rated power. This means you get extra voltage swing, huge transients and, more importantly, the feel and harmonic content that usually requires glowing bottles.
At home
Turn the Master way down, or plug in your headphones and keep it totally quiet, as you work on your music late into the evening. The 101 Reverb is the perfect missing link between your effects and your speaker cab.

This is a great piece if you like the options and sound it offers. By that I mean you know what sound you want so this head is not for everyone but the tone is warm and clean, good reverb too and you axe plays into it as well as your style. I especially like the feature of dialing in the wattage and shaping the sound with the EQ and the gain. Great distortion at even 5 watts and use "the limiter" to take the edge of and get it right where you want it. Or crank it up and this thing can drive a 4x12 cab. Probably not the one you want for that set up but it can handle it. 50 watts is a lot more than players think. FX loop too which "overlays" the effects while you play straight through. I like being able to sit the head right next to me and the cab (Fender Deluxe) 1x12 Cel. is 10 feet away plus. Come with a nice manual that truly explains knobs and feature and the thought process behind the design. Well done.

I liked the gain/limiter system, it was easily configured to get the tone/sustain I wanted. (Jazz and light fusion) I also thought the 50W power rating was about right, it could power a 2x12 cabinet adequately as long as the gain was greater than 1. I also inspected the construction inside the unit, and was reasonably satisfied with the engineering and sophistication of the circuits and the adequacy of the power supply. I question the quality of the components though. I have an Orange Crush Pro 120 head that has remarkable tonal clarity. The 101 reverb 50W was close to this in all aspects (disregarding power), but only had about 85% of the tonal clarity of the Orange. Just slightly more dull sound. And it also has an "ICE PICK" issue. For that reason I returned the amp. Though at two pound total weight compared to over 35 pounds for the Orange, the Quilter amp certainly did a good job, and the easy portability .can be a huge plus. If Quilty comes up with a new model with super high quality components and construction, I will certainly buy it.
Outstanding!

I bought this amp as a back up amp that I can fit in my gear bag. It's sound is similar to a deluxe reverb. Don't worry about volume. It's plenty loud enough to gig with a full band and drummer. Takes pedals great too! I liked this amp so much that I bought the block dock 12hd to use it as a combo for smaller gigs and practice. I've always played high end tube amps and this one can hang with tube amps no problem. I Highly recommend this amp. Buy it!

After using the Quilter Overdrive 200 for a year or so, I bought the Quilter 101 Mini Reverb to use for live situations. The 101 Mini Reverb sounds very reminiscent of the Fender Deluxe Reverb, with the advent of an effects loop, a limited and more front end gain. The two Quilter amps have replaced my long time go to amps(Mesa Boogie MIV and Peavey Classic 30)for live situations.
Sounds good, lacks punch

Sound was great, but no where near loud enough for me. Would be on the cusp of not loud enough to gig with in my opinion. But great construction, sound was nice. Looking forward to my problock 200 getting here.
