As an update, I just bought a Mesa 1x12 Thiele closed back cabinet to pair with my V:25. I run it with the combo's 10" speaker and it sounds great. The 12" gives the low rumble and the 10" is very expressive. Still using the JHS Little Black Amp Box in the effects loop to control the volume while driving the tubes. Now I have both a great bedroom amp/portable on the go amp (just the combo) or I can add the Thiele and crank the volume and get a great full frequency roar. Two years later and it's still a great setup, now even more flexible.
Great amp, but got someone's used unit!!!

This is a great amp for taking out to open mic nights. At 24 lbs, you can comfortably carry your guitar and amp into the bar in one trip. If you want a new, light boogie, then this may be your last chance to get one, and at a discounted price. The Mark VII heads are so heavy that I doubt that they will come out with a Mark VII 1x10. My only issues are: 1) I thought the Celestion Creamback speaker is a choice that allows the amp to do everything well (especially cleans). But it sounds like what it is - a 10" speaker. Even the Mesa literature downplays the heavy sounds as muted of something to that effect. I immediately changed the speaker out to a Celestion Vintage 10, which I have had great luck with in the past. Now the amp (although 2 lb. heavier), sounds like it has a 12" speaker in it. Cleans are not quite as sweet, but I can certainly live with that - great improvement to this light-weight tone machine. Also, the clean and crunch settings are on the same channel. Since the crunch is my favorite setting, I have to dial in a clean on the second channel. They fixed this on the Mark VII by putting a crunch on the first and second channels. But, as I said, the Mark VII head weighs a ton and will never come out as a 1x10 combo. Not that I really need it with this low of wattage, but I bought a Little Black Amp Box to allow cranking the amp and controlling the volume to bedroom levels. I have not tried it yet, but looking forward to that. The EQ adds so much personality to the sounds that I use it almost all the time - really makes the sounds cut through the mix - adds a lot of sparkle to any setting. I love this amp and will use it for years to come!

Used by enthusiastic amateur, puts everything else with a 10" speaker to shame.
