Small but mighty

I bought this to use as a portable amp so could take it places and leave me bigger (more expensive) amps safe at home. I am very pleased and surprised at how good it sounds and how powerful it is, the only thing I wish is that it had built in reverb. All you get is one input one tone and one volume knob, very basic but really good tone and sound.

"Bait & Switch"- I was deceived by the photo on your website

The Laney Cub 8 amp photo on your website wasn't even close to what you sent me. I reported this to customer service immediately, and they seemed to care, but they couldn't actually verify if the stock photo was the same amp they were shipping, or if they just didn't have a current photo on the website. I preferred the "old fashioned" original cabinet over the modern cab, and I was not pleased because I did not get what I ordered. The customer rep noted that he would post the newer photo when available. Thank You

Nice little practice amp with real tube warmth and breaks up nicely at high volumes. More compressed than a silver face Champ, brighter than volume-only types.

One of the best small tube amps that actually gets loud and gets distorted as you raise the volume.

  • OK, but not very reminiscent of the Laney I had in the 70's

I was planning to use this as a tiny practice amplifier. I'm not fond of using pedals as overdrives because of the solid state processing. I love using my JCM2000 DSL because of the wicked gain. The " HI " gain on this one just isn't high enough to satisfy someone wanting to push the heck outta the output tube.

I have always wanted a low watt all tube amp. This one did not disappoint. Work great for recording. Just wish it had more features, a three band eq would be nice. Also an effects loop. But those are minor issues, still a great amp regardless.

Got this on a Stupid Deal of the Day sale and I'm digging it. I'd like it a lot better if it had reverb. I have to say I would NOT pay list price for it. For what it's worth the 12AX7 in it is JJ brand. Didn't check the other. Also, pay attention to the word BLACK in the item name. The speaker cloth is black, not that tan color.
