Open Box JBL PRX635 15" 3-Way Active Speaker System (Each) Level 1

I have been DJing for 15 years. I'm not an expert but my take is these speakers thump with clarity! I used the speakers at a park for an event. I played oldschool, rap, and hiphop at the event. I had the volume less than one quarter of the way up on the speakers.The volume the mixer was at level on 4 (I use a Denon MC6000). The bass was set at zero on the mixer. I rocked that park for four hours! The bass was thumping! My setup at least 75 feet from the pavilion where people gathered. At the end, people came over to see the brand of speakers and wanted to know where I had the volume set. They told me they could barely hear themselves talk while playing cards. Since I was behind the speakers, I could not tell how loud the speakers were. I moved to the front to change the direction of one speaker to project to the b-ball court but I had not idea how loud the speakers were until i walked to the pavilion after the comment. I used the speakers for a second outdoor event but I only used one speaker and had the other one setup as a backup incase the first one blew out ( I read a review stating the speakers blew after a few hours so I was concerned about that issue). Let me tell you, I am getting rid of my other speakers and sticking with JBL PRX635s. P.S. When I initially set up the system, I had the volume about half-way up on the speakers and hit play on the mixer. The volume was so loud that people at the pavilion jumped. The people who came over at the end of the event stated that people ducked thinking it was gunshots...lol I can't say how pleased I am with this purchase & yes there is a Dover, FL

These are really solid speakers. I've used them a couple times. I do find them to be a little too bright. Definitely need to EQ them or pair them with a sub. I expected a little more bass response out of them, but I was probably being a little too optimistic. They do have plenty of volume, but I lit up the clip light a little with some of the lower bass frequencies. These are for professionals and absolutely can handle regular work. These are quality speakers. Make no mistake.

I do not recommend these speakers. I've owned a pair of these speakers for over a year and in that time, both have gone out for service. The JBL repair center says they do a lot of service of the 6 series models and I saw a couple there when I took mine in. And these speakers are used primarily for weddings so they're not driven hard. Do not bother getting the GC warranty - it's a total rip off. The JBL warranty is 5 years so the GC warranty does nothing unless the speakers are accidentally damaged. The sales people give you a hard pitch about loaners and replacements but I received none of that from the warranty company (separate entity from Guitar Center). In both instances it took over a month for JBL to get the parts to the service center. The parts are usually on back order and need to be shipped from China or Mexico. Glad I did not sell my Mackie Thumps - those have proven to be more reliable. To be objective, the positives about the speaker are the power (1500W), light weight, and ability to mount on a tripod. Sound is clear but too high/bright. However, none of that matters if your speaker goes out and is in the shop all the time.

Great product! The Crown amps really just can't be beat. Using them for PA for rock and roll band. Qualities: light weight, study, solid construction, simple and easy to use. We added a BBE sonic maximizer which really opens up the potential of these babies. Later we added a DBX drive rack that makes our compact PA system far more high quality than a lot of the venues we play. Warm and full sound. Just ask my neighbors.

this speaker is too much to ask for. its crisp yet pounding loud and tha base couldent be heavier. the cabinet itself is also not to heavy to manage. in total its a great buy.

I purchased these cabs about a month ago. I paired them with a PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 mixer. They are a beautiful marriage. The JBL's are crisp and clear. They are light weight as well as compact for as much sound as they produce. But they are built sturdy with tongue and groove joints and protected by JBL's DuraFlex finish. In addition, the 15" sub will pump the low end frequencies (60-250Hz) with ease and clarity and without distortion even when I push them. If you do want the sub bass frequencies (16-60Hz) in your sound system check out the JBL PRX618S or 618S-XLF series of subs; preferably the XLF's. I couldn't be more pleased with this series of loudspeakers from JBL. I would never want another set of cabs. They are worth every penny. The only con I will mention is that the fuse is set inside the cab. If you were able to blow a fuse, you would have to take it to a qualified service center for replacement. If you would open the cab to replace the fuse yourself you would void any warranty that was purchased on them. Hopefully JBL will reroute fuse placement on these models. In short; buy them you won't be disappointed.
