Ibanez GSRM20 miKro Short-Scale Bass Guitar - Black

Description
The compact GSRM20 miKro bass is designed for maximum comfort, with a lightweight poplar body and slim maple neck that make playing a breeze. Its short 28.6" scale is long enough to produce full, punchy bass tones, yet short enough for players with smaller hands or in cramped practice spaces.
Dynamix Pickups Deliver Versatile Tone
The GSRM20 miKro features a Dynamix P pickup at the neck and Dynamix J pickup at the bridge, providing a range of classic bass tones from full and warm to sharp and defined. Roll off the P pickup for a round, thumpy tone that lays down a solid foundation. Engage the J pickup alone for a more articulate, mid-focused sound that cuts through the mix. Blend the pickups together to find your perfect balance of lows, mids and highs.
Fast, Comfortable Neck
The GSRM20 miKro's slim maple neck offers amazing playability for bassists of all skill levels. Its fast profile allows for effortless slides and position shifts, while its short scale makes it easy to fret notes and play complex lines. The neck's satin finish minimizes friction as your hand glides up and down. Combined with its lightweight body, the GSRM20 miKro provides hours of comfortable playing without fatigue.
High-Quality Components for Great Sound
Like Ibanez's full-size basses, the GSRM20 miKro is built with high-quality components to deliver great tone and sustain. Its B10 bridge provides a solid anchor for the strings, maximizing vibration transfer to the body. Accurate fretwork and nut files ensure notes ring out clearly with no buzzing. While compact in size, the GSRM20 miKro sacrifices none of the quality that has made Ibanez a leader in bass design.

Ibanez's Micro Bass Guitar
I was truly amazed at how nice this guitar is and plays. I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I wanted to get my kids into playing a stringed instrument. My boys are ages 8,10 & 12. All three have been able to pick it up and start playing...(with a little instructional help from me) For the money, this guitar is excellent. I like it so much that I am considering buying one for my studio to record with. The sound is great and the best part about it is that you can tune it. In my experience, you get what you pay for. I have looked at purchasing 6 string micro guitars in the past and never bought any because the intonation was always off. I could never tune them up out of the box. I would have to spend additional money to have it set up properly or do it myself. The Micro Bass by Ibanez sounds great right out of the box. My boys are loving it.

Small bass - large sound
A little rough around the edges but overall a great bass. The neck and fretboard were very, very dry feeling until I used mineral oil (baby oil) to give them a better feel. This bass has a true low sound on the neck pick up ( p-bass style split). At a recent jam session, someone recorded us with a one point stereo mic and the bass was so strong that it blew out the recording. Guess I will have to play softer. Love the even shorter short scale of 28.6" Guitar licks and scales transfer over much easier, as I am playing both guitar and bass regularly at the moment.

After trying full scale basses and finding them difficult to play, I tried the Ibanez Mikro and found it super comfortable and easy to play. So I bought one in weathered black three years ago. It was so nice that I bought a second one a year later, in blue, to use with different strings (D'Addario flatwound chromes). I bought other short scales to try, including an Epiphone EB0, a Squier Bronco, a Gretsch Junior Jet, and a Squier VM Jaguar SS. They all eventually got sold because they were neck-heavy when played with a strap, and none felt as good to play as the Mikros. I also bought a Jackson Minion, which is as comfortable and easy to play as the Mikro. But I wanted to be able to swap strings across basses, and the different headstocks (2+2 vs 4L) didn't allow that. So it got sold and replaced with a 3rd Mikro, this time in transparent red. I have different strings on each for a wide variety of tones: flatwound chromes on blue, tapewounds on w-black, and round wounds on red. These are amazing basses. Thin necks, light weight, good balance, easy to play, gorgeous colors.

The bass is the perfect size for my 10 year old. The short scale decreases the weight and length needed for her arms, and the jazz neck makes it easier for her fingers to get around it. The sound is great for a beginner learning to play, and not having to keep a battery around due to the passive pickups helps as well. I would definitely recommend it.

This bass is very nice, great sound on both pick ups and good tone control. Simple setup with just a tuning and it was good to go. Looks great, feels great in hand, and smooth frets. Using for 7 and 9 year old kids to teach bass/guitar, it fits great, and they like the blue color.

Singing the praises of this little bass guitar, I'm almost embarrassed by how much I love it. I was looking for a short scale bass around 30" and found this Ibanez GSRM20 at 28.5"...fits me perfectly, weighs nothing, super comfortable, and sounds great. It's not a beginner's toy, but a kid learning bass would totally enjoy this instrument. Professional quality Dynamix J single coil and Dynamix P split coil pickups are noiseless. The neck is satiny fast with round-C profile that feels nice and fat. Setup was perfect out of the box.

I have a set of Getaria wireless transmitter/receivers. Will they work on the Ibanez Mikro bass? I know there are some brands that will not fit due to the size of the jack on this particular bass. If the Getaria transmitter/receiver will not work can you recommend some that will? Also I have read some reviews that mention fret buzz. Is this something that hopefully has been corrected ?
1) The GSRM20 has a standard 1/4" jack. The Getaria has a standard 1/4" jack. I'm not familiar with the issues you mention. They will fit. 2) There is probably nothing to fix. Fret buzz is not a defect. Fret buzz is directly related to the setup. It can be adjusted.submitted3 years ago
