Works okay but it's very cheaply constructed. I expected for the money it would be made out of better materials.
Great for blocking out background noise

I bought this mic to record interviews at house-music events (outdoor pool parties). It did the job. i bought both the iRig Cast and the Rode Smart LAV mics. tested both. The smartLAV captured alot of background noise and was 2 times as expensive. the iRig however, has a built in filter that helps it block out background noise even if it is fairly loud. (tech house, deep house outdoor sound) At the same time, it captures the subject you are recording with very acceptable clarity. i chose the iRig. Used it together with the iRig app. app is not the best. regularly glitched and i had to restart it. but came back after the restart. have to mention, some of my interviews had pin-needle noise distortion on it, so i had to toss some interviews in the trash :( lets hope my backup mic sound will come out acceptable. awesome mic for the price. highly recommend for travel interview jobs
iPad mini support??

I bought this with the intent to use it on my iPad mini but when I go to load the app on my mini. it doesn't even show up to download. I don't have an iPhone but I was able to download the app irig recorder app to my droid ultra and use it on it. Tried to email a short WAV file to myself but did not get the file... Probably my error - wonder if the file is to big?? Wouldn't think so. So, still hoping it's supported on the mini and have a lot to learn. Price was right and I think it will be useful as I play with it more.

I record grooves when we wonder across some magic. My iphone built-in mic clips horribly, sometimes beyond recognition. This mic, on low, does not. It's small and easy to use. I do not use their sftw app. I use Recorder Pro, which was free. Very happy with the results.
