Open Box Epiphone Limited Edition G-1275 Double Neck Custom Electric Guitar Level 1 Alpine White

4.5 Stars, actually. The only things keeping me from giving this guitar 5 full stars: 1) The tuning knobs feel cheap, consisting of 2 halves pressed together. The "seam" from the pressing was never touched up. (Nothing a little careful touch up with a Dremel tool or emery cloth can't fix.) 2) The nuts are a bit tight on the strings, resulting in minor difficulty in getting the pitch dialed in "just so". Also a minor flaw. Otherwise, this guitar is everything I had hoped it would be. The six-string side is nice and raw, lending itself nicely to rock and metal distortion. The 12-string side is a bit smoother, but still capable of being driven hard. Overall, the action is average on the six, and above average on the 12, with only a little adjustment required upon receipt. Getting acquainted with it left my fingertips blackened, most likely from the strings. Yes, it's a bit heavy, but still comparable to my acrylic Strat copy. It does have a tendency to nose-dive, and will dive faster than Eddie Van Halen at the Whammy Bar Nationals, so I'd recommend getting a "sticky" strap to help keep the necks within reach. It played Hotel California so nicely straight out of the box, I had to check to make sure I wasn't Don Felder! Note that both fretboards end at the 20th fret, so it's range is just a bit limited, but what is does, it does incredibly well. Adjusting to a double-neck guitar takes just a little doing. The top neck feels too high, and the bottom neck, too low. This too shall pass, leaving you with a sweet-sounding guitar, and for a couple thousand less than it's uptown-bred Gibson cousin. I also got Epiphone's case for it, and the case fits like a glove. The form around the guitar body fits so well, it's almost like "plugging in" the guitar into the case. There is nothing whatsoever needed to hold the necks. If you're looking for an affordable double-neck guitar, don't buy one until you've checked this one out.

Feeds back like crazy you gotta get it set up when you buy it because the intonation and the action is awful, The necks are kinda rough and after a couple months the strings wont stay in tune well. If you want a guitar like this buy a used Gibson, Though the paint job on this guitar is quite incredible they should have put alittle more into the sound of it.

This is the fourth purchase in less than three months. It has to stop but I can't. Les Paul. Sg400, Acoustic electric and now this beast. I have converted to Epi purely I play twice a week in a local cover, original band and have just purchased this guitar. Wow, it is not a Mosrite as it doesnt cost $2,400. it is not a Gibson because it doesn't cost $2,800. it is a well made nice sounding guitar, heavy as a beast and a pain to carry around but it is awesome. Let's try to make our comments about the guitar to it's nature well made nice looking and plays great.

Having never owned or played the G-1275's Gibson cousin, I cannot state "better/equal/worse" and compare the two. I can only state my opinion of the G-1275 itself. Mine is MIK, 7/2006 I'm going to break this down into three parts; Overall, 12 string, and 6 string. Overall; This is a very nice guitar. Heavy? YES. But, unless you have a doubleneck made from balsa wood and paper mache, it's GOING to be HEAVY. 'Nuff said. Fit and finish are very good. The tuners (all 18 of them) stay in tune extremely well. I've detuned (and retuned) both necks for different reasons (the 12 to play some Tom Petty, the 6 to adjust the truss rod) and found the nuts were well cut...no binding and "plinking" by a string being pinched in a slot. The electronics are problem free. 12 String; Ususally when you buy a new guitar, there's a bit of "set up" work to suit your personal style/taste. Other than tuning it up, it needed none. Absolutely beautiful action and great tone. 6 String; This did need some "set up" work. I needed to loosen the truss rod a bit and lower the bass side of the bridge to gain relief and set the action where I wanted it. The 6 string neck has the only real issues on the whole, which keeps me from giving it a "5". The treble side fret ends could have been dressed/finished better. You can feel them as you move up/down the neck, kind of catching your fingers/palm a bit. Also, the bridge pickup is a bit "muddy" sounding for my tastes. The latter is person opinion, so you might not agree. I'd definitely recommend this instrument to anyone interested in a doubleneck, but without the funds for the Gibby's almost 3x price tag.

Ok, I am sorry, but this guitar is just too good for words almost. It is silly to me though that the Gibson version of this awsome instrument is so much more expensive. This guitar not only is way under the price of any Gibson model that you will find, it also has a much better look. The Alpine White really shows up on stage, you will definitly be noticed with this guitar!

This guitar is good but not great they say you get what you pay for, i agree with the guys that say it sounds good, but i disagree with the dude saying it sounds better then the gibson, but again most of this is all in our heads and what pleases us, if u play double neck alot or have played it before, you would know that its not as good as the gibson version, i use to have a mosrite double neck that sounded good i played an epi one for some time and it didnt sound half good as mosrite but i didnt have the features i was looking for on the mosrite, so i saved and bought the EDS 1275 the gibson version of this guitar else where for $ 1500 very good deal and i feel the sound everyday its great!
