Description

EMG's DG20 Pro Series pickguard is inspired by the iconic red Strat David Gilmour's churned out delicious licks and fabulous tone on over the years. This set includes ivory alnico-loaded SA single-coil pickups for rich, dynamic response, an EXG Guitar Expander to enhance treble and bass frequencies, and an SPC presence control to bring out the warmth and midrange depth of your Strat. Upgrade your tone with a setup influenced by one of rock’s greatest guitarists.

The system comes prewired on a custom 11-hole, 3-ply pickguard. This is the ivory version.

EMG EMG-DG20 David Gilmour Pre-Wired Pickguard/Pickup Set

I was very skeptical about changing the stock vintage pickups and the sound of my 1987 Fender USA Standard Strat. The Guitar Center employee was very helpful as I struggled with the decision in the store. I am very pleased to report that this upgrade far exceeds my expectations. The installation was straightforward and very simple. I have no complaints but I really don�ۡ���t understand why such a very well engineered and designed upgrade would not have a predetermined accommodation clip or secure placement for the battery. In any case, this set of pickups is just perfect for my style of playing and sound choices. I could not be happier with this product. I offer that it would not be the first choice for most metal or crunch players. However, if you are a player that is looking to expand the color pallet of a standard Stratocaster...look no further. I also have a 1989 Clapton Strat but these EMG pickups allow more character and tone to shine through. I highly recommend this setup.

Two purchases...One Good...One Terrible

This pickguard set is solid. Made a huge tonal difference upon first installation when replacing stock pickups.

    This is my second pre wired pickup assembly I have purchased. While having my Strat re fretted, my guy cracked the printed circuit board of the first EMG-DG20. I was bummed as I have really LOVE the tone that this thing produces with my Mesa... So I bought another one. I just installed it and EMG has done a major upgrade over my original as there is no longer any soldering required no at all. Very fast and easy installation. I cannot say enough good things about this product...as a matter of fact, I am going to send the damaged one back to EMG and ask them to fix it and I will gladly pay for it and then install it in another of my Strats (don't judge me) BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Have a great day!

    I've been meaning to try this pickup system ever since it came out. But being a vintage wind guy, I hadn't made it a priority. If you are even thinking of trying these, do so without hesitation. They sound (and feel) fantastic. I recently did several recording sessions using nothing more than the onboard controls.

    This set up made my already great American Deluxe even better. Don't listen to the people who say these pick ups cant do vintage tones, they absolutely can. You just need to lose the "set everything on 10" mentality. They installed in minutes, the fit was perfect and the tones are incredible. From SRV style Texas Blues to high gain, these pick ups handle everything I throw at them. No, they wont do drop tuned modern Metal, but who would want to play that noise anyway? And if you do, a Strat isnt your best choice of a guitar. No, dropping this into your guitar wont make you sound or play like Mr Gilmour. If you believe it will, I don't know what to tell you. Overall the DG20 has been everything I hoped for, and more. It's nothing like stock Strat electronics, and there's a learning curve to getting the most out of this set up, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

    These pups are amazing and the installation is easy. They sound great and one can get many tones with the different knobs. Word of caution: The reviews that complaint that the pups are noisy, etc. come from those used to turning everything to 10, as one pretty much has to do many times with passive pups. The key with these active pups is to modulate the volume a lot in order to get the sound you're looking for. I've been able to get Gilmour, AC/DC, and Satriani tones. Easy on the volume and play with the other knobs in order to get the sound you're looking for.

    I have a Ritchie Blackmore signature strat. It's a Mexico Strat but very nice to play and I love the scolloped neck. It really has no versatility even thought the Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders do have some punch. I am playing through a DSL 100 full stack but have a Silver Jubilee full stack ordered. I am on the verge of ordering the DG pickup setup and asking opinions of what people might think it will work with these two amps and the basically Mexico strat???
