    I purchased this product from GC near me and i was so exited to get it and try it out. I got it installed onto my computer and updated the drivers then started recording and messing with it. I found that after around 15-30 minutes of recording a static distortion sound comes through my headphones so i checked the cables and switched them out for another cable and the same problem would happen. This static would go on for about 15-20 minutes then just go away. I checked all my volume settings and everything seems to be just fine. overall the product has been more of a headache for me than anything. I even resorted to uninstalling it from my computer then re-installing it and the same problem happens. i also contacted Avid and M-Audio to try and solve the problem and neither Avid nor M-Audio replied to my emails. i also called and phone calls did not help. The people on the other line did not know how to solve the problem.

    I've been working a couple of hours a day to learn the system. It is amazing but complicated. I also have had trouble keeping my drum machine and ProTools rhythm metronome in sync - despite both being set for 120. I also get some cracking in my playback speakers. Otherwise, I am enjoying the capabilities. Big upgrade from a VS-1680.

    I bought this product from Guitar Center Sherman Oaks, CA and couldn't wait to use it. Turns out you get ProTools SE not MP which means 16 max tracks (instead of 48), no support for 3rd party plugins to add instruments or effects, no mixer mode, etc, etc. You can read for yourself the list of differences here: http://www.avid.com/US/products/family/pro-tools/compare. Basically this is severely crippled ProTools meant only to introduce hobbyists to ProTools. On top of this the software is extremely unstable and frequently produces squealing bursts of white noise in place of your tracks and you have to close your project and restart it to get your audio back. Even when it does work the audio is filled with so many clicks and pops it's unusable. I'm running this on an extremely high-end Dell PC with 12 GB RAM 2 TD disk space Intel 960 Extreme Quad Core Processor, etc. Also, since the bundle includes software it?s non-returnable so you?re stuck with it. Do yourself a favor and save up for the full product or look to some other system, this stuff was a terrible disappointment.
