Best Platform Stand
This is a very sturdy stand. I have two; one for the road, and one for the studio. Unless you have a complex multi-key set-up, and are standing when playing, all you need is this stand. For the extra bucks, I'd choose this stand over the "X" stands any day. It's like the platform stands I used with Rhodes pianos. It's got a lot of adjustment for width and height, as well as adjustable feet should you ever be on an uneven surface (never happens, right?). It'll hold the heaviest keyboards, like your Motif for example. Folds neatly, sets up quickly, store it in a keyboard gig bag, and you're all set.

Very solid but too high
I cannot fault the build and construction of this stand. It provides an absolutely solid platform for an 88-key stage piano and also folds into a very compact space. From that perspective it is way better than the x-stand it replaced. My issue is that it is too high. The platform is 25 inches from the floor (not 26 inches as the specifications say). When you put a standard keyboard on top, the keys are nearly 30 inches from the floor. This is uncomfortably high for the average piano bench and way too high for a normal chair, so I can't use it while sitting at my workstation without swapping chairs. On the other hand, if you want a stand for gigging while standing up, there is plenty of height adjustment left.

This is a terrific stand that can benefit anyone who uses it from a novice to professional player. It is very sturdy and compact but is expandable to suit different sizes of keyboards. When seated, taller people won't have to worry about their legs touching the back of the stand in comparison with the models of stands incorporating criss-crossed legs. All in all, it's a nice, sleek, sturdy, functional, and attractive product worth the money. Hope this helps!

Solid footing with this stand. And no "X" to bang my knees on! I like being able to adjust the width without affecting the height.

One serious flaw

While this stand is sturdy and well built, it has one flaw which caused me to send it back. There is no positive clamp on the folding legs to keep them from folding back up again if the stand is not fully set up or takes a hit from the side. A simple sliding collar around the joint, like most folding tables, would have solved this problem. Bought this over the internet and returned it at a store. Guitar Center staff was great about taking the return and helping me find a better solution.
