Martin DX1E Body

Classic Dreadnought Body Produces Full, Balanced Tone

The DX1E dreadnought carries on Martin's legendary acoustic legacy. Its wide lower bout and sloped shoulders produce the balanced bass, strong mids and crisp treble the dreadnought shape is known for. Flatpicking or fingerpicking, the DX1E projects with clarity and dynamics. And its large size gives this acoustic-electric greater volume and sustain than smaller-bodied guitars. Let the DX1E's vintage dreadnought voice shine through on anything from folk to rock.

Martin DX1E Back and Sides

High-Pressure Laminate Construction for Consistent Tone

While it has the look of exotic tonewoods, the DX1E's high-pressure laminate (HPL) build provides added resilience. Its layered top, back and sides make the guitar more rigid for improved volume and sustain compared to all-solid wood. The DX1E is also less prone to cracking and warping. Rely on its consistent tone whether recording far from home or gigging locally.

Martin DX1E Neck and Headstock

Performing Artist Neck Profile Offers Comfort

Designed with hours on stage in mind, the DX1E's Performing Artist neck has a slim taper for comfort. Its smoother feel enhances complex chording and fast runs during extended practice or gigs. The flatter 16" radius offers low, even action from nut to soundhole. Combined with a thin Richlite fingerboard, the DX1E's neck lets your fretting hand move freely. The 1-3/4" nut also provides ample room between strings for accurate fingering.

I bought mine a week ago and seeing that this is a laminate , it actually sounds good. I did however, have to buy a truss wrench from Martin so I could relieve some of the neck tension. IMO these new Martin's should include them with every model . I also changed the string gauge from 12s to 11s, which make playing easier. This however , a vast improvement over the older x series from several years ago. I am a 66 year old , disabled veteran who only plays at home now ,so this is all I need. All in all , a pretty darn good guitar for the price.
