Great metal amp
I searched for a good half stack that I could get a great metal tone out of without having to rely on pedals or effects and this one does the trick. I've been playing for over 15 years and I've never gotten a sound I like as much as this without having to rely on effects. If you're not getting a great crunch out of it, you're probably not trying. It DOES require a little knob tweaking to get all the sound ranges out of this amp as a slight adjustment can really change the tone dramatically. For a good thrash tone, I would suggest the following. Gain - 9. Bass - 10. Middle - 0. Treble - 5. Contour - 10. Crank reverb and all the effects to 0 and this will give you a very solid, low-end crunch that works great!

not so great
although this amp is made by marshall, don't expect to get the true marshall tone out of it. te clean channel is pretty good actually, but the distortions aren't good at all. you'll have to use an effects pedal to get a good distortion. also, when turned up loud this amp gets ALOT of feedback. i do have a boss noise suppressor pedal though which does help a lot. However, the cabinet is okay. i bought a b-52 100W tube head and used it with this cabinet and it sounds pretty good. Personally, i wouldn't spend 600 on this amp. save your money and get a better marshall or some other high quality amp. but if you really need something soon, and you don't care about tone very much then maybe this stack is for you

As a musician heading back into the club scene I found myself in need of a reliable amp setup. After playing around with every solid state stack i could find i found myself coming back to Marshall. I run mine through a line 6 floor pod and have nothing but praise for it. Loud as hell, lots of tone choices (especially with the contour controls). My Strat and PRS guitars sound beautiful. Thanks Marshall
Happy with it

I last had a 15 watt amp and I have been playing for years so I needed a bigger better amp no doubt. I waited a few days of playing with it before I wrote this review..I'd say for what I payed for it is great sounding and plenty loud. The head has some good effects and allows you to not have to carry pedals around if you really don't want to. The overdrive/distortion is a little thin for my taste but is good for certain things. I compensate by using my DS-2 pedal and then my problems are fixed. I suggest it, for upscale from what you had before while being able to afford it id say its a good amp.

I have played with many different brands, and I have to say that marshall is the be all end all of guitar sound. I recently purchased this amp and was concerned due to some of the reviews on this website. I have to say that from my experience this amp has been excellent in both quality and sound. For those folks that have complained about the distortion, I can only say learn to play guitar and then you won't need that much distortion. I have played metal and rock for years and from what I can see it has excellent high gain distortion indicative of marshall amps. The clear channel is extremely crisp. This amp is very loud. I would recommend this amp to any player that is looking for the traditional marshall sound on a budget.

I aquired this amp through a gift and it doesnt dissapoint me at all! I use the new Digitech RP500 on this half-stack and it sounds amazing! Just use the effects and distortion that you would like to get that certain tone, and you're in business. I prefer to use other effects only because I play different music with a wider array of effects needed, and a bit more of a heavy tone. But if you want a sound that everyone will recognize as :awesome: than buy this amp today!!!
Amazing!

This amp is a great buy for the price! At first i thought it would be a watered down version of a marshaall stack, but after using it i was amazed by the clarity at diversity of sounds. There are good special effects, but no tremolo =[...oh well it was still a great buy! It made my sucky guitar sound great! And its light weight, but loud. A Great combination for live gigs.
