MEINL Luis Conte Double Studio Shaker Red

Description
For easy groove shaping, and adding movement to any rhythm, grip the shaker in the middle where the ends meet. Gripping the shaker with your fingertips and holding it parallel to the ground yields the best sound. The shape of the shaker makes it easy to get a solid grip whether you're playing softly or loud and energetically.
This red version of Luis Conte's three signature shakers sits below the medium (black) and loud (gray) models in both volume and attack, for a delicate sound that provides subtle inflection in quieter settings. On stage or in the studio, these Luis Conte signature shakers work with any percussion setup or drum kit—and complement a cajon especially well. The durable, all-weather synthetic shell is made to endure heavy touring for consistent sound with longevity.

I have two sets of these shakers for two different bands that I play in. I combine the red and black shakers for a bold but soft sound and use the red for very soft accompaniment. I definitely recommend these shakers for great sound and durability and for their versatility.
Best shaker for recording

I've used them all. Been recording for well over 15 years. I've yet to come across a better shaker for recording, and believe me I've looked. The trick to recording shakers is to get really really soft shakers. Most shakers are very coarse, which makes them wonderful for live use as they'll really cut through a mix, but terrible for recording because they're dynamic range is just too wide. This one sits nicely in the mix, is easy to record, and is easy to play.

I was looking for a soft shaker. Something I could use at church for those nice slow songs. This one did the job. I have used other shakers that are supposed to be soft, but still sound a little heavy. This shaker has a very soft and smooth sound. I no longer hesitate to shake things up.
