Ludwig’s proprietary shell formula consists of a 7-ply North American maple shell, perfectly bonded with their RFST molding process which utilizes their historic bladder molds—the same ones that made drums for legends like Ringo Starr and John Bonham—combined with a modern adhesive and bonding process that ensures a perfect seal between each ply that makes for the most durable and acoustically perfect shell on the market.
