Near Perfect Class D Head

This amp is incredible. It's powerful and the clean tones are easy to sculpt. The distortion is one of the best that I've heard, and the ability to blend the clean and distorted tones is an excellent bonus feature. Switching between clean and distorted is foot-switchable, but finding the Laney footswitch can be a challenge. The EQ section is straightforward. Bass and treble work as expected. Instead of having sweepable mids, they offer 4 notches that are in the sweet spot ensuring that even a novice can dial in usable tones. The Tilt feature is excellent. You can dial in a tone that you like, then use the tilt switch to cut lows if the room is boomy, or add lows if needed without changing the overall EQ. The DI is clean and perfect for recording. There are 2 things that I would change: 1) There is a noise gate in the power section when using speaker cabinets that results in a little noise until the gate clamps in. It's not an issue live, but if you're recording a solo bass piece you may have to add a subtle gate to prevent it from being in the recording. 2) It's a large amp for the Class D space, which is usually about small powerful amplifiers. I understand they are trying to give the illusion of being a "tube amp." I have had musicians actually ask "what tubes are in there." Other than that, this is a near perfect amp!
