LaBella Deep Talking Bass model strings are one of a very few sets of strings manufactured for the Hofner violin type bass guitar. This model features a flat wound core with a black nylon overwrap resulting in a beautiful tone, great smooth feel and a somewhat muted but thumping bass tone as compared to typical round wound strings. Very few manufacturers support the unusual scale length of the Hofner 500/1, Club or other model violin shaped bass guitars. Due to this fact there are not many choices out there, perhaps why retail price (just under $40 per set) is so high in comparison to other bass strings from D'Addario, GHS, Fender and other manufacturers. But if you want to replicate the Paul McCartney Hofner bass sound these strings will get you there along with the required Hofner. So its' the price you pay to nail a sound. Quality wise, extremely well made.

I do not write reviews but I was so disappointed in these that I had to post something. First off the low E broke. How the hell can one break an E bass string? I put it on my Schecter first, played for a few minutes and removed thinking maybe it would sound better on my Bass VI. When I went to put on the Bass VI I noticed it was unwinding as I started to tune. Somehow the string snapped at the top! Cant use it ever. I love flat wounds on a bass. I was so pumped to try these out on my Bass VI and on my Schecter Ultra VI. I immediately removed them. They are not comfortable to play and to me I felt it cut my over all volume in half. Almost no high end in the tone and very quiet. Maybe it's because its a six string and not four?I don't know. I just paid a lot of money and they are never getting used. DO NOT BUY!!

These strings amazed me! Installed on a Squire Bass VI (best pick-up configuration of the series) and blew me away! Tapered ends made installation a snap, wrapping feels superior to any other string I have used, and the tone!
