    I've been considering a Lava guitar for awhile. When the affordable Lava Me Play came out, I decided to pull the trigger. I use it primarily as a couch guitar. I like the smaller size and no need to plug in and still get some effects. The guitar itself is better than I expected for the price. It was set up pretty good out of the box. I put a set of Silk and Steel strings on it (primarily because I just finger pick with acoustics) , rounded the corners of the nut because it was sharp, sanded down the saddle a little bit and tightened the neck about a quarter turn. The electronics are fun to play around with.

    What type of material is HPL?

    HPL is produced by saturating multiple layers of kraft paper with phenolic resin. A layer of printed décor paper is placed on top of the kraft paper before pressing. The resulting sandwich is fused together under heat and pressure.
