Description
The Jackson X Series Dinky DK3XR HSS Electric Guitar provides an unparalleled performance experience for the price-conscious guitarist looking to push the boundaries of metal. Boasting a poplar body with a sculpted cutaway heel for effortless access to upper frets, this ax is built for fast, intricate playing. The bolt-on maple neck features a compound radius laurel fingerboard, 24 jumbo frets, and Jackson's Speed Profile for a familiar, fast feel.
Loaded Pickup Trio Delivers Aggressive Tone
Routed for an HSS configuration, the Dinky DK3XR is equipped with a trio of Jackson pickups selected for their ability to produce an aggressive tone. The Jackson high-output humbucker in the bridge position provides rich, saturated tone with ample overdrive and sustain for lead playing. The single-coil middle and neck pickups produce a distinctive single-coil tone, allowing you to explore a range of sounds from spanky cleans to crunchy rhythm. A 5-way blade switch and master volume and tone controls offer even more tonal variety.
Floyd Rose Special Bridge Enables Dive-Bombing
No shred machine would be complete without a Floyd Rose bridge and the Dinky DK3XR features a Floyd Rose Special—an officially licensed version of the legendary double-locking tremolo bridge system. The Floyd Rose Special allows for radical dive-bombing effects and ultra-stable tuning, enabling the most extreme whammy bar workouts.
Sleek Style and Premium Appointments
With its sculpted poplar body, color-matched reverse pointed Jackson headstock and black hardware, the Dinky DK3XR has a sleek style that matches its tone. Premium appointments like rolled fretboard edges, die-cast tuners and strap buttons provide enhanced playability, tuning stability and comfort. Available in cobalt blue, neon green and gloss black, the Dinky DK3XR delivers high-performance tone and style at an affordable price.

I love Jackson guitars- Bought this bad boy in Neon Green pretty much for the looks, and the HSS config to diversify my sound; all my other rigs are HH. Bought A JS32 DKAM in gloss black for $200 less, earlier this year. The biggest difference is build quality. The Green Dinky has small gaps where the neck is bolted to the body, and if you look closely it's a pretty shoddy fit. The black DKAM neck fits into it's body like a glove, no gaps, no signs of paint missing. Doesn't affect tone, but it does lessen my opinion of it. Additionally, this Dinky model does not allow for access to the tremolo bar tension adjustment under the back plate, near the claw, whereas the DKAM does. I have to say, I would not buy this guitar again, but it is not my least favorite rig. With this build quality, the guitar should cost less money. All that said, it has a great shreddy strat tone and I really actually do like the feel of the laurel fingerboard and the fast Jackson neck. Not to mention it just looks freaking cool.
Excellent quality for the price

Pros: tremolo is better than you think it would be. I gave it a workout and it held tune pretty well. Neck is fantastic, comparable to Ibanez necks in the rg550 range. Doesn't make it play better but the color combo is great (have the cobalt blue). Comfortable access to the higher frets. Pickups are reasonable but will likely get switched at some point, though no rush. Cons: not a fan of the reverse headstock.

Historically, I replace Jackson pickups soon as I get a Jackson home. Not this time. I was very pleasantly surprised. I play in an 80's hair band and this guitar is perfect for the genre. Tone and playability are both spot on. The Floyd is also very stable. Once I give the strings a stretch and tune up, it's good to go for an entire show. Buying another one to have as a backup.
Awesome guitar

Plays great right out of the box. Action is really nice. The single coil pickups have a nice strat sound. Humbucker sounds amazing.
Nice guitar for the price, with one flaw.

I bought this guitar because of the Floyd Rose, pickup configuration, and aesthetic. Just wanted something to play 80's rock on. I have enjoyed playing this guitar unplugged. Haven't really played it plugged in because the 1/4" jack is too tight and spits the cable right back out. Not sure what's wrong with it because I've never run into this particular problem before. Other than that, the craftsmanship seems pretty nice for the price point. Fret edges were clean and smooth. Neck feels nice. Can't tell how hot the pickups are. Hope my review helps you.
I'm going to buy another one in another color
