So I noticed this came into my local Guitar Center today (I'm a regular) and I decided to give it a try. I picked it up to notice a relatively slim neck with a little bit more of a D shaped neck than most Ibanez's. Slightly fatter than an Ibanez but more round than a Schecter and super fast. I plugged it into a Line 6 combo (mediocre at best but better than most amps in the store at the time). It sounded AMAZING d00d. The bridge pickup was very articulate and slightly lower output for being a stock pickup. (keep in mind I was playing on a Line 6...) The middle pickup was kind of bland but not bad at all. The neck pickup was pretty treble heavy. To counteract that, just turn down the tone to taste... But anyway, it played like a dream and the Jackson branded Floyd was super comfortable and pushed and pulled really smooth and easy. However, the tuners could be better. They turn slightly too fast to get really accurate tuning but I think they did that to counter the string lag due to the extreme distance from the tuner to the nut. The finish wasn't extremely flashy and defined. (If that's something you worry about) Intonation was close and the action was great (not too high not too low) and had absolutely no buzz. This guitar isn't too heavy (not nearly as heavy as a Les Paul) and it resonated solidly. I don't think I would need to change the pickups anytime soon if I get it and I wouldn't worry about the tuners. If you're looking for a great guitar with a Floyd, a quilted maple top, and HSS style, this is it. GET IT IMMEDIATELY ?_?.

I have had the guitar for about 8 months now. Sounded great as soon as I got it home from GC. But the thrill was soon to be gone. After the first time I changed the strings, I couldn't get the locking screws back on, much like others have commented. I ended up using a couple of washers and that was my "temporary" fix. I emailed Jackson, explained the problem and their response was basically, "We've never heard about that, might be the paint that is preventing the bolts to screw in. But it sounds like you found a work around." I used the washers until I had to change the strings. This time I used smaller gauge, but still couldn't get the bolts to screw in. However, I have found a fix. I took a file to the top of each locking piece and filed it down about 3/64". I'm glad to say, the strings are now locked in place with the correct "modified" parts. Just like all things, you get cheap materials when manufactured out of USA. Other than this small issue, the guitar screams, cries and sings when I need it. The neck is fast and very smooth playing. Looking to get buy on a mid price guitar get it, but be prepared to make some adjustments.

This axe plays like Buttah and sounds great...

Comments about Jackson JS34Q Dinky DKA-M:

Just picked this thing up yesterday and I have barely put this thing down. Sound: It has a 5-Way Pickup Switch and is very bright. It can get sick tones... But I will change the pickups someday. Playability: It is a very, very smooth 24-Fret guitar and it feels like it's playing itself and you can just kick back and watch almost. Trem: It has a licensed Jackson Floyd Rose and it is not the very best trem out there, but it is a very descent trem. Looks: For me, looks don't matter to me as much as sound and playability, but this quilt is ridiculously beautiful. Mine is the Transparent Blue, and it looks like the water.

Comments about Jackson JS34Q Dinky DKA-M:

Most high performance guitars (Jackson, ESP, Charvel, Ibanez etc) above $1500 will offer fast necks that are easy to bend strings and very responsive to picking harmonics provide wide tonal spectrum.

Products that are targeted at entry level guitars often have frets that have high friction making the string feel like there is more tension and the craftsmanship is what you'd expect from a $350 guitar.

However, this is not the case with the Dinky series. The playability is just like the real U.S made Jackson guitars. The strings bending is effortless and the pickups sound great as well. The bindings, Floyd Rose, tuners, quilted maple top, finish are also good quality. I highly recommend this guitar.

Comments about Jackson JS34Q Dinky DKA-M:

For the money, one of the best electrics I have ever used, and I have quite a few. The fingerboard is rather flat, which is of great benefit for fast playing. The hand on the neck slides like butter, and the sustain is fabulous. I would take this over a Fender any day.

I'm a bedroom player so I've never played a gig with it but I believe it would do an amazing job. It's a floyd so it's not gonna stay in tune at first but I've never had a guitar with tuning stability like this one. If you set it up properly it's a great guitar.

Comments about Jackson JS34Q Dinky DKA-M:

I've been playing for 30 years and when some hard times hit 5 years ago I had to sell my Peavey Wolfgang Custom and half stack.

I'm now to a place where I could afford up to 300.00 for an electric guitar and I did my homework hoping to get something that sounds and plays as nice as my Wolfgang did.

I did extensive research on my options and this guitar kept coming up, so I went to Guitar Center and luckily they had a couple of these there. I played over 20 different guitars in that price range (Ibanez, Mitchell, Epiphone, Kramer, Schecter and a few others) And I kept goi back to the Jackson for its sound and more importantly it's playability.

With the exception of the Kramer Striker, which had the same low action (but lacked the sound) none of the other guitars were even in the same realm.

The compound radius neck is so flat and fast that playing it is almost effortless. Between the playability and the sound, after 2 hours I finally came to the conclusion that this was the guitar for me. (Plus GC has it on sale right now for 279.99!)

The one slight bummer was that I bought a brand new one in the box (I checked the action very quickly and it's even better than the floor model) but I didn't do a complete test and the low E has a bit of a buzz... My fault for not catching it, but that's fixed easy enough.

I also want to note that these may be called "Dinky" but if they're smaller than a normal strat style guitar, I can't tell the difference. The guitar is perfect in size and it's a nice solid well made beautiful instrument.

I love the sound and feel of this guitar.. I love the maple neck and the single coil pickups are OK, but the humbucker is really nice. I've only had the guitar for a few weeks but I'm considering taking it back because it just won't stay in tune as Sunburst mentioned in another review.

I could not get this guitar to stay in tune. I am not talking about the whammy bar messing up the tuning. This guitar simply could not be tuned, period. I brought the guitar to the shop and was told I would need to pay for a professional set up and have the spring tension checked. Doubtful that this instrument would ever perform well, I had no desire to invest more in it. I returned it.

Everything about this guitar is great. Very smooth and slick neck for playing at blazing speeds. Very good for Heavy Metal. No unwanted noise, suprisingly test played on a poor conditioned beat up cord. Could make a spectacular custom guitar project if you wanted to swap pickups, the stock pickups are set to go if you are looking for something on the spot. It's even on the same level of thier Pro Series in terms of what is here for your money. A very good guitar for the buck, and a steal .

At my store I compared the Jackson to and ibanez that was also 349.99 the Jackson blew the Ibanez out if the water the maple top in blue is absolutely guorgous and the neck is super smooth Floyd rose temelo is amazing. Only negatives are the pickups were a loose when i got it and if you tighten the locking nut too much it brings the strings way out of tune. Over all amazing guitar highly recommend of anyone

This guitar is very playable and sounds great. There were some minor flaws on the fret markers that were easily corrected with some fine sandpaper and guitar polish. Didn't have to do much setup on it to suit my playing style. I did change out the tone capacitor for a deeper tone for playing blues, but that's just a personal preference not a flaw

Very good playing guitar. Came out of the box not set up, so I had to attach the springs and tune it up, but it plays very well and sounds nice. Darker sound, and a lot of bottom frequencies.

I've had this a few hours now and only see one problem. The locking bolt that hold 5 & 6 string came off when I was trying to tune and now it won't go back on. Irritating. I may try a thinner gauge string. If that doesn't work will contact Jackson to get suggestions. Other than this one issue fabulous guitar. Others have reported it staying in tune, but after 2 hours playing hard, strings pretty much stayed in tune. I gave up my Fender for this and don't regret. Just a really nice guitar.

Comments about Jackson JS34Q Dinky DKA-M:

I had received this guitar for my birthday. It is a very good guitar however there are some cons. To start off with there was a fret buzz on the first fret and a slight fret buzz on the e string along the whole neck. The tremolo bar will not stay intact. But this is a very excellent guitar and I am very pleased with everything else about it. This guitar has one of the best tones I have ever heard. I would recommend this to friends but now if they enjoy the various fret buzzes.
