The JS Series Dinky Minion JS1X provides aspiring shredders with a compact yet full-featured electric guitar perfect for practice and travel. Its 2/3-scale poplar body and bolt-on maple neck deliver resonant tone and smooth playability, allowing smaller hands to navigate the amaranth fingerboard with ease. The Minion JS1X packs in the high-performance appointments Jackson is known for, including dual humbucking pickups, a hardtail bridge and a sculpted heel for unimpeded access to the higher frets.

Scale-sized for Comfort

The Minion JS1X's 22.5" scale length makes extended practice sessions comfortable for players of smaller stature while retaining familiar full-size electric guitar tones and feel. Its lightweight poplar body balances well on a strap and fits compactly in a gig bag for jamming on the go. The slim maple neck and 12" radius amaranth fingerboard further enhance the Minion JS1X's playability, allowing nimble runs and big bends with minimal hand fatigue.

Speedy neck for effortless shredding

The bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement rods provides rigid stability and a smooth feel. Its 12" radius amaranth fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets so you can blaze across the strings with precision. The sculpted heel offers unimpeded access to higher frets for blistering solos.

High-output pickups for aggressive tones

The Dinky Minion JS1X is equipped with a pair of Jackson high-output humbucking pickups that produce a range of aggressive rock tones. Switch between pickups with the three-way blade switch to find the sound you need for your riffs and leads.

Road-ready and stage-proven

Everything about the JS1X is designed for life on the road. A string-through-body bridge creates rock-solid tuning stability and sustain. The lightweight poplar body keeps your shoulders happy during long gigs. No-nonsense black hardware gives the JS1X a rugged appearance that matches its durable construction. When it's time to hit the road, the JS1X is ready to ride.

Nifty little but still very real shredder

This will be a X-mas present for my daughter who's 8 so her hands and lap are too small for a full-size. I tried it out as soon as it was delivered and was pleasantly surprised. All the controls work well, pick-ups are plenty strong and the set-up was right on straight out of the box!!! Compared to the budget beginner guitars I started out with this baby is the real deal and I wish I had had it. So far I've bought 2 low-priced Jackson's and they have been spot on - actually better in some ways than my Gibson LP was which needed some tweaking. If the higher-priced ones I've seen in GC could deep-six the Floyd Rose tremolo systems I might spring for one of them, too.

Absolute piece of junk

This thing is worse than a toy. I bought it for my son for his ninth birthday. He was excited ... for about 15 minutes. First off, it's impossible to tune -- never mind staying in tune. It was literally impossible to get this thing tuned. Second, the frets buzz. Badly. Third, the frets are painfully rough. Sliding my hand up and down the neck literally tore skin off my palm -- so, not rough as in a little bumpy; rough as in OSHA health hazard. Finally, about 15 minutes into playing with it, my son went to put it in its stand and it tipped over. That's all it took for the nut to come unglued. I have literally bought toy acoustic guitars -- and toy ukes, for that matter -- that were higher quality than this piece of garbage. Do not buy.

great little guitar but was a little to small for me.... loved the look and the neck but went with the JS11 Jackson instead. this guitar is really nice if you like the smaller profile.

Absolute garbage! This is for a child, I cut my finger on the unfinished fret end, and this absolute waste of wood and metal will not hold a tune. By anything other than this, you are throwing your money away.

I was really impressed by the quality of this little guitar. I've purchased other small guitars for my kids - little Squier guitars - and I was surprised by how solid this one felt in comparison. The looks are radical and colors bold, all positives to my child. The frets are jumbo which can cause tuning problems if you push too hard, not really that big of a concern in our case. The only issue I had was right out of the box it did not play right, it needed a truss rod adjustment and that fixed all the issues. I recommend picking it up at the store and checking it while there, my experience was they took care of the issue instead of returning the item.

Good guitar with no problems. That I could see out of box. Other than it needed a set-up. Wasn't crazy about the pickups. Sounded good clean. But ad some dirt. They got a little muddy. So I had my local guitar tech. Mod it. He installed a set of Seymour Duncan's JB hotrod pickups set. Sh 4 in the bridge. Sh2 jazz in the neck. He replaced the volume & tone pots. I went with Dunlop 500k super pots. And replaced the stock pot metal string saddles. With graphtech tusk string saver saddles. And a graphtech tusk nut. With D addarrio xl light gauge strings. It sounds awesome now for a mini guitar.

Cute little axe, bought it cause my wife wants to learn how to play. Luckily I know how to set up a guitar, every thing needed to be set up, truss rod, bridge height, and intonation.

A setup is making adjustments to make sure the neck is straight and to make sure the action is where you want it. And strings all come down to personal preference and it also depends on what type of music you'll be playing. I would recommend bringing it by your local store and we can look it over and give you a few options as far as the strings go.

Yes, this guitar would need to be connected to a guitar amp.
