Ibanez SR605E 5-String Electric Bass Guitar Black Stained Burst

Every time I think I want a new bass, or maybe just try something different I am immediately humbled. This thing feels amazing. I just can't seem to find anything in thia price range, or even slightly higher, that feels remotely as good as this. It's just a crazy good Bass.

I thought I found a 5 string I liked in my Ibanez Gio, then I tried this Ibanez Soundgear SR605. When I went to my local Guitar Center they told me it was in stock but it wasn't so I ended up buying it online. I love the Nordstrand pickups and it's comfortable for me to play.

This 2021 SR605E-BKT is the third Ibanez bass I've owned over the past 25 years and my second 5-string. I traded in a mint 2019 Cort A5 Artisan SCMS at Guitar Center in San Francisco for this brand new Ibanez. The Ibanez SR605E is a great example of a 5-string bass that won't break the bank while offering high-quality professional-grade features. The playability, balance, and feel of the SR605E is top-shelf. It will handle any playing style you throw at it; slap, pick, finger, or tap. The craftsmanship and build quality is excellent for the price paid. The two Nordstrand™ Big Break pickups combined with Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ Bass–Mid–Treble Active/Passive electronics offer a huge variety of tones to dial in. You can't imagine any raw bass tone this SR605E could not not make. The 3-band EQ with Mid-frequency sweep gives you the freedom to make this bass sound like whatever you hear in your head. I'm giving my Ibanez SR605E-BKT a Five Stars rating. For price point, styling, sound, and pure playability, I am impressed in all the best ways. Whatever types of music you prefer to play, this bass is a perfect addition to your gear collection.

This is an excellent instrument capable of many sounds from a midrangy J-bass sound to slap-happy scooped bass spank. Lots of EQ control and a plus is the 3-way midrange switch. Only negative is there are few spots on the neck where the notes seem to not sustain as well as others, but this is not a deal killer. I raised the treble side of the pickups to compensate. I love this bass.
