Fret Buzz, Fret Noise

I expected a better Bass than the SR300 that I currently own. The electronics and pickups are top notch. The neck was unplayable. First off, the frets make a loud click when you fret the string. This is loud enough to come through my amps. The click is louder than my SR300. Second off, the strings buzzed horribly. The 8th fret on the E string was darn near unplayable. It would buzz noticeably more than the 7th and 9th frets. I own a Warwick, a Pedulla, a Schecter, and an Ibanez SR300ROM (which is a great bass for the money). Assuming that I got a lemon, the metal that the frets are made out of is too noisy, so I can't imagine any of them not having too much fret noise. If you fret a string with any kind of force you will get a louder click than any of the above mentioned basses. This is unacceptable for a bass of this price. The guitar tech at Guitar Center tried adjusting the bass and when he played it, he looked at the Manager and said there is absolutely nothing he can do. The Manager promptly refunded my money. Guitar Center's 30 day return policy works. Maybe I got a bum neck on this particular bass, but being a $1,700 Prestige line makes you wonder about quality control.
Tremendous Bass

The craftsmanship of this bass becomes readily apparent as soon as you open the case. The 5 piece neck is ridiculously thin and very playable. Doing some research, I found out the Atlas 4-HP neck has KTS titanium reinforcements which enables this instrument to stay in tune better than most. The Bartolini electronic package will enable you to dial any tone you wish. A unique feature is that the Bartolini electronics has been made to accomodate 2xAA batteries (you can use rechargeable if you wish) vs. 9 volt. The advantage is that you can play longer in the active mode before changing out batteries. The quality on this bass is second to none. It's a joy to play and catches the eye of everyone who sees it. You won't need another bass after trying the SR4000e.

I just recently purchased the the SR4000E Ibanez, and I must say I am extremely pleased. I have been searching for some time to find the right bass to suit my personal style. My new Ibanez does just that. The tone is amazing, hard when you need it and funky when you want to slap and pop the hell out of it. Playability is second to none. I had narrowed my search down to the Music man Stiletto and this, but after playing both (of which I might add, amazing instruments) the SR4000E just fit me better.I dare anybody to try this bass, it will amaze the hell outta you.

There a lot of basses on the market in all price ranges. The more one plays and studies the bas and the better you become, the more you require from your bass. This bass will fillall of your needs,it fits right up there with some of the best high end bass on the market. The playability of thsi bas is simply incredible,it has a thin, fast neck (this may not be for everyone),the electonics are from Bartolini, the cratmanship is outstanding. And most of all the sound is ample. The Bartolini 3 band EQ with the sweepable midsprovides much versatily. I think the most unique part of the bass is the new added bypass switch. This bass has earned evey bit of my overall '5' rating.
