Multi-Scale Design for Enhanced Playability
This guitar features a multi-scale design, which means that the strings have different lengths. This might sound strange, but it actually makes the guitar super comfortable to play The longer scale length for the low strings gives them a tight and focused sound, while the shorter scale length for the high strings makes them easier to bend and play. This combination provides a balanced and comfortable playing experience across the entire fretboard.
Q58 Pickups—Designed for Headless Guitars
The SML721 S is equipped with Q58 pickups, which are specifically designed for headless guitars like this one. These pickups deliver a clear and defined sound with excellent tonal balance. The lows are powerful without being muddy, and the highs are bright without being harsh. These pickups also work great with effects, so you can experiment with different sounds and find your own unique voice.
Wizard Neck and Rosewood Fretboard—Smooth and Fast
The SML721 S has a Wizard neck, which is known for its smooth and fast playability. It's made from maple and walnut, which makes it strong and stable. The rosewood fretboard adds a touch of warmth and richness to the tone. This guitar is perfect for shredding, playing complex chords, and everything in between.

this guitar can do it all. i'd say i'm an intermediate at playing guitar, and have played quite a few, but nothing comes close to this piece. so light, so smooth, everything is perfect. definitely needs a setup out of the box as i had some fret buzz… great for metal and any other type
So light, so smooth

I spent two months researching single cut guitars and narrowed my choices down to half a dozen. Walked into the Nashua NH GC and tried out all the ones on my short list. I had narrowed it down to two and I saw this hanging and had to try it out. Wow! Obviously very much not a single cut, this guitar plays so, so smoothly, is so light and the finish on it is absolutely gorgeous. Zero frett buzz, setup on the guitar was as close to perfect out of the box for me as I have ever seen. Smooth, fast and a joy to play. Ibanez knocked it out of the park with this one.
Ibanez SML721 Multi Scale

Professional Player. Multiscale facilitates playing with arthritis. Fret edges protube from fretboard, Top scratched from poor packing. Action high and buzzes if the strings are lowered so poor fret leveling. Sounds great but has it's faults.
